cross-posting from !anarchy_anz@quokk.au:

Food Not Bombs is a worldwide movement that cooks and distributes vegan food to anyone and everyone, without restriction.
โ€Ž The Melbourne chapter of the organisation currently gathers leftover organic fruit and vegetables from Queen Victoria Market and conventional produce from Preston Market, gives some to worthy causes, then cooks up the rest and shares it on the streets of the inner city and northern suburbs.
โ€Ž Everything that isn't collected for free is paid for by fundraising gigs, catering gigs, donations where people can afford them and even from the pockets of the volunteers themselves.
โ€Ž Volunteers are always welcome! If you aren't able to volunteer, your donations of cash or things we could use are also welcome.
โ€Ž Feel free to come out to any food sharing, or any cook up, or both! :)
โ€Ž Cook ups and food sharing are as follows:
โ€Ž Monday dinner
3.30-6pm: cooking at Collingwood Neighbourhood House.
5.30-6pm: Takeaway meals available at Collingwood Neighbourhood House, 253 Hoddle Street Collingwood.
Other meals taken to the Medically Supervised Safe Injecting Rooms in Lennox St Richmond North for clients only.
โ€Ž Tuesday dinner: cooking around 4-7pm at Collingwood Neighbourhood House; From 7.15pm: communal meal in outdoor area on corner of Butler & Lennox St, Richmond.
Wednesday dinner: cooking 5-7pm and sharing from around 7pm at the same place: Catalyst Social Centre 144-146 Sydney Road Coburg.
โ€Ž Sunday dinner (2nd and 4th Sunday of the month only):
cooking 5-7pm and sharing from around 7pm at the same place: Catalyst Social Centre 144-146 Sydney Road Coburg. Includes open mic event. Don't be shy!

Heatwave warning (aussie.zone)
submitted 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) by melbaboutown@aussie.zone to c/melbourne@aussie.zone

Ok, it looks like a heatwave is coming this week from Tuesday to Friday?

Different sources (my UV warning app and search engine preview sourced from Apple Weather) especially put Wednesday at 40C and Friday at 35C.

Is that what you guys are seeing? BOM site doesnโ€™t seem to work properly on my phone to check this reliably but be warned I guess.

Make sure to have icy poles and drink enough, get your ice cubes started. Check on the elderly, make sure your cooling is working if you have it, keep pets inside and make sure they donโ€™t get heat stress or burn paws on asphalt when they go on a walk.
