Bullshit.
I've been on Reddit for 9yrs, and have seen loads of recycled post content, which is definitely a thing. Even for the karma-farmers, though, there's at least a usefulness in bringing interesting content to new users who hadn't seen it before. And yeah, sometimes bots will replicate comments in such threads from years earlier. This is also a thing.
But across my ~dozen curated streams I see about 10% of that stuff, and 90% actual fresh content, including actual commenters that one can interact with if one merely tries. (have you?)
So part of my point is this-- if you're browsing vanilla Reddit and complaining about the experience, then you're telling me that you haven't made any significant attempt to set up your Reddit acct properly, up to and including failing to set up RES properly.
And if so, what you're telling me in short here is that you don't know what you're talking about.
This is a silly/ridiculous narrative that simply isn't true.
I'm on both places, and have been doing my best to grow things on the Lemmy side for ~2yrs now, but Reddit is still invaluable to me for plenty of fresh and authentic talk across a number of subjects. Yes, botting may be a problem here and there, and power-tripping mods exist (at both places, actually), but overall Reddit is still a robust, useful site.
Now, do I like forward to the Fediverse growing and attracting more users over time to more and more niche communities? ABS-SO-LUTELY.
But I think we have to make that happen by producing quality comments, posts and communities, not by declaring false victories, nor by making completely disingenuous comments.
Oof. I've been in the ER a couple times recently due to hypertension spikes. Some scary shit, yeah. Meds now adjusted, yadda-yadda, and hopefully things work out.
In the meantime, still trying to get some posts out there to keep the sublemmy alive. Unfortunately, numbers are rather sharply down the past couple weeks. Usually this is simply due to the vagaries of timestamps and theme of material, but I'm not sure it's just that, anymore.
Oh well, a few more weeks will hopefully tell the tale, for ze better or ze wurst.
I guess, truth be told, that we could ALL use some help with our projects(!)
Not sure how directly related this is, but I used to love making pizza from scratch as a young-ish dude.
Now, it's almost impossible to completely screw up pizza under almost any coicumstances, but I've learned over the years that: 1) preparing / proofing the dough (as long as necessary) is mission critical, and 2) creating an oven-situation which transfers heat as rapidly possible is... also mission critical, haha.
This means that some people, due to sheer diligence and careful prep, can produce unbelievably delicious, oven-brick-style pizzas in their humble little kitchens!
Haha, thanks for sharing, WB.
(I'm thinking "Wow! Wow!" is either about jealousy, or a comment upon how F'd up the whole situation is. XD)
Homeless guac, homeless guac...!? There will always be a place for...
Oh, okay, that looks lovely. 😅
Oof, I didn't see this post at the time because of a settings issue, but here goes...
I find Toppi's work just amazing, and one of those guys who are not just technically and artistically brilliant, but also bringing their own, inimitable style to the table, like Moeby and Rich Corben, let's say.
I also must admit that I'm generally not a fan of B&W, altho there are some exceptions. Jacques Tardi easily comes to mind. Okay, let's see... Guy Delisle's amazing Shenzhen & Pyongyang travelogues. The two masterpiece District 14 series, if you don't mind the art being pretty loose. (incredible stories, tho) And the work of Norway's Jason... Bastien Vive's various works, some pretty wild and NSFW, others more conventional. And last, we might possible call Jim Woodring an honorary LC artist; in any case, his wordless comics are spellbinding an utterly unique indeed.
Yeah, let's go with that list for now! :D
Ugh, another goof-up on my end which evidently prevented me from seeing this comment when it was made.
Great to hear you're indeed in to Pico-8, as you are! That gives me some steam to perhaps go ahead with the 'arcade' section of the sub. Btw, if you like Celeste (and it has many variants, right?), what do you think about Spelunky? (one of the picks on my list)
Maybe you can sticky a general discussion thread, even if it’s seldom used, at least it can facilitate some discussion, especially if there is bandes dessinees chat that isn’t thread worthy.
Yeah, I was kind of dreading having yet another pinned thread that didn't get much use, but this is a good argument, above. Hroomy-hroom hroom...
Interesting!
I don't have Netflix, so I really on you all to share some samples, if you can! <3
Keeping the top hat might be good, as then it symbolises sort of an historic excursion or scientific experiment.
Hello, Utarefson,
I would think you're probably right about getting off of Google to share examples. Only thing about Duck-Duck-Go is that I heard it kinda 'sold out,' recently, and I absolutely have *not* tried to research how true or untrue that is.
Any advice / guidance would be cool...
