Small phones don't sell, that's just the thing. Asus tried for a few years, it didn't work and now the Zenfone 11 is going to be big again. I'm personally on the other end of it, I'm never going smaller than my current phone (Edge 30 Fusion) because I really like the big screen.

In Finland, the closest equivalent to this is some D list celebrity (so like someone who was in Big Brother or something) performing the ceremony on a cruise to Sweden. There is no direct equivalent however.

It's literally like that shit from Ready Player One where the guy suggests that you can fill up the VR screen with like 80% ads before the user gets sick from it. That's what they are doing now, they will push ads until people either stop watching or not enough people subscribe to Premium. The fact that you can't even skip ahead in a video without getting more ads, even if you just got the pre-roll ads. It's completely unacceptable and I think that there should be laws that would prevent that type of consumer abuse.

It does have an aux-in, but I don't have anything to plug into it.

According to the Boost dev in this thread, its literally required by Google to say that. So I am guessing that any social media app has to say that.

I've not been able to stop using Reddit because quite simply, some subs never migrated and they are major subs for me, such as /r/hockey. I've been using it less for sure and I've used Lemmy more, especially with Sync now available, but only time will tell.

I'm on Bluesky, but literally nobody I follow on Twitter is. I'm all for Bluesky, but it needs more people to become successful. I enjoy it a lot, but it just needs mainstream attention first.

They marketed iMessage so well, while the rest of the world adopted apps like WhatsApp, Line or Telegram. In part because of iMessage, they never really adopted any of those at the same rate. I damn glad that's not a thing in Europe, I'd lose it if I had to use an iPhone. Good phones all right, but I'm just so used to the little tweaks of Android.

Well they don't directly force you to use it, but when basically all of the most popular browsers (including the default browser of Windows) are Chromium based, that means that developers optimize their sites for that first and foremost. And combined with Google's amp protocol, which adds control for them, it means that they can dictate many terms for these other companies. It's like sure, you can use Vimeo to upload your video, but who the hell is gonna see it when there's YouTube? Same thing here, why use some other standard (such as what Firefox is doing) when the support for Chromium is that much greater, even though it's more restrictive in others.

I believe I got 3.2% this year and 2.8% next year, or in other words, I got completely shafted. Doesn't even cover food cost going up.

I might shell out the money for ad free at some point, but right now I'm not confident that Lemmy will be relevant in a year. That said, the app is fantastic and I made it look exactly like the Reddit version of the app. It's just such a good app, I love it.
