I'm hoping that Hariette will respond to one of us soon and agree to open-sourcing the project. Thank you everyone in the Artemis community <3

I did learn metric in school, did you not? I'm in Ohio, not sure if it's different elsewhere. Typically it was tied to physics and chemistry, but still learned it.

Currently not open source, but it will be! The code base is just a bit messy this early on and @hariette is focusing on cleaning up a few bugs prior to the larger beta roll out. Once things slow down on the development side, the devs can focus on cleaning up the codebase and releasing it on GitHub.

There is not an apk available yet. Currently there is a limited amount of beta testers (around 10 people). The devs are closing out some bugs in the coming days and @hariette is planning on rolling out an invite to a few hundred beta testers on the 1st of July. The roll out will be based on who signed up on this google form.

There are some new features, collapsible comments, magazine sorting, the settings page which has an app icon switcher as well as a couple accessibility options!

Hariette is working hard with the other devs to start rolling out to other testers!

Massive shout out to @lavender for all of their hard work!

  1. As of right now the project is not open source, but it will be. Source: this Mastodon toot made by Hariette.

  2. Not sure where it will be available, I believe github is the plan for @hariette, simply because that's where issue reports during beta testing will be reported and it would make sense to have everything in one place.

  3. Yes, Lemmy will be supported, about halfway through beta. Source: The road map posted on this magazine, and Hariette's comments on kbin.

By the way, upon full release Artemis will be functional for both Lemmy and kbin, AND be available on both iOS and Android.

Alpha testing should be starting in the next day or two.

Hariette is hard at work to create an alpha release that is stable enough to start rolling out. Follow https://kbin.social/m/ArtemisApp (!ArtemisApp@kbin.social for you Lemmy users) for more updates and announcements on the app.

Hariette is also available at kbin: @hariette, and Mastodon: @hariette.

For all we know Christian is talking to a lawyer behind the scenes, it's typically not recommended by attorneys to announce that you plan on suing someone

I'm curious about this, I have a server that I used to use for a Minecraft server, but it has been shut off for a while.

What would be the downside of hosting your own instance? Maybe it would be automatically defederated from other instances?

So far all of the dev work has been done by Hariette herself. Full credit to her, I'm just promoting it because it really looks quite great in my opinion.

[-] Lilkev@kbin.social 8 points 1 year ago

It will be for both, friend.

[-] Lilkev@kbin.social 10 points 1 year ago

Yep, iOS and Android! Also, all this work has been done in less than a week. It's crazy.

The dev, @hariette, also has a Mastodon profile where she posts updates https://tech.lgbt/@hariette. There is also a link to the apps discord server in her bio.

To be honest, I'm happy with how it went. I am excited to be off of Reddit and part of the Fediverse now. I never expected Reddit to fail, but I think there will be a drastic decrease in quality content.
