Edit: and to your point about the Soviet Union joining the allies - I would very much rather they didn't start the war along with Nazi Germany by invading Poland at the same time, signing a nonagression pact with the Nazis, sending people to gulags where thousands died. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. And your story has a huge gaping hole in the middle of it that you cannot explain.
