I work for a US company but my contract is governed by Canadian and Ontario labour laws. The company offers unlimited time off but that's illegal in Canada so we have unlimited time off minimum four weeks. We take as much time off as we want as long as our job gets done.

Not to mention the Type 1 crypto and ECM equipment. There is no way in hell that the US would let Trump walk away with that gear. I read that it would cost from $10 million to $100 million just to sweep the thing for surveillance and tracking devices and to validate that the software hadn't been modified. Trump just thinks that this is a gift for him that's going to stay the way it is and then be transferred to him when he leaves office.

It's the same model of plane as the existing two Air Force One planes. They will tear it down and rebuild it as Air Force One. Trump wants it because it's a flying palace and believes that he will be able to keep it as is and have his own flying palace. This is cleptocracy manifest.

It's far more than that. The Trump administration is lawless, ignoring and defying the courts, and trampling on the constitution. My son's school just cancelled a long planned trip to New York City because of the very real risk that one of more of the children in the trip might be held, handcuffed, and thrown in ICE detention for days or weeks. Under the current authoritarian regime it is unsafe for anyone to travel to the US.

They changed the headline on this article. It originally read, "Polievre launches campaign with a pitch to heal, 'a divided country'" which made me laugh because he's spent so much time whipping up the white grievance that carried Trump to power in the US and trying desperately to ride the same wave of populist bullshit with the same message as Trump. When he's railing about the, "woke" and "political correctness" that suggests that we can expect an all out assault of LGBTQ+ rights, brown people, books, and anything else they don't like.
