Tbf there's a link to imdb on the first image

Yeah I usually like the Google boxes in search results, but this is so excessive. Everything after and including the polls is just completely unnecessary

Microsoft was claiming that the data would be inaccessible to hackers (which is not true).

Signal claimed the exact opposite: that once it's on your computer, messages can be seen by malicious programs on your computer.

Signal was caught having less than ideal security. Microsoft was caught lying.

That just sends a screenshot on a map and a Google maps link. What we want is realtime location sharing

This is a small 3D platformer in Celeste mountain, made by the Celeste team to celebrate Celeste's 6th anniversary!

It's on Windows, Linux, and Mac coming soon.

Now, I use an adapter for headphone jack to USB-C. Every day.

For F-Droid in specific, you'll need an F-Droid client. I use Droid-ify (GitHub) (F-Droid) (IzzyOnDroid), but you can use whichever you prefer. F-Droid is a good source for open source apps.

If you're sideloading from different sources, Obtanium (GitHub) (IzzyOnDroid) is useful to download apps, and keep them updated. You can even kinda use it as an F-Droid client.

Google is pretty lax on what it allows on Google play, so unless you're trying to avoid using Google services or you want to install apps that aren't on the play store, you don't need to do it.

If you want adbocking and extra features in some apps (especially YouTube), check out ReVanced.

Google isn't lying - there are risks to sideloading if you don't know what you're doing. Make sure what you're downloading is coming from legitimate sources you trust. For example, if you look up ReVanced, some unofficial websites show up which may have malware. Triple check everything is coming from an official source.

Lemmy's subscriber user count is usually wrong.

You only see the true number if the community is on your instance

Check the community from the original instance to see the actual number of subscribers

If you're searching for instances, you should use https://lemmyverse.net/communities since it lets you quickly compare subscribers, shows you more results and also is just better overall

Yeah, just upload pictures in the post body. Like you do in comments you can do it in the post text as well.

Image: Sign that says "Go Away! No Mushroom Hunting. Mine! They are ALL mine!

Lemmy has a way of doing it automatically, but if you want to do it manually the formatting is

OP is a Mastodon user.

Mastodon doesn't actually have communities built in, so if you want to post in a Lemmy community you have to @ the community. (That means that there's a decent chance this post was an accident, since linking to a community and posting to a community is the same on mastodon)

Thank you to Reddit u/Thunder9191133 for this post where I originally found how to do this glitch.

It's possible to glitch into grannie's house in Epilogue by skipping the cutscene at the same time that Madeline starts to walk into the house. Here's the most consistent way I found to do it:

  1. Go to Epilogue, and climb up the step to the left of Madeline.
  2. After she climbed up, hold left and almost immediately pause.

If Madeline walks into the house, you paused too late. Restart chapter and try again.

If you pause the game and see 'Retry', you paused too early. Retry and try again.

  1. If you pause the game and see 'Skip Cutscene', you did it! Now you can skip the cutscene, and you'll be in the house (but the cutscene will still be playing).
  2. Pause again, and press Retry.

That's it. Have fun in grannie's house!

Video showing the glitch

For some reason you can't grab or walljump on the walls of her house. There's not much to do in there, but it's interesting that it's possible.

Feel free to try it yourself! It will probably take a few tries, but it's not too difficult.

I just played this mod with a friend a few days ago, and it's pretty fun!

It's a multiplayer level where one person plays as Madeline who can dash, and the other plays as Theo who has a grappling hook ability. You help each other through screens, for example by moving blocks or pressing buttons.

It's online, so there's a bit of delay, but it works better than I expected! The different abilities for Madeline and Theo make the gameplay a lot more interesting than if it was just 2 Madelines. I recommend checking it out, even if just to see what it's like.

Also, here's some other multiplayer mods if you didn't see them before.

The beta for groups will release later this week, which won't be federated initially. Federation will be added afterwards.

Looks like it will have some interesting features like videos, polls, and events, as well as moderator tools like limiting what a user can do.

A menu in Pixelfed titled 'Limit Interactions' which shows that a moderator can prevent specific users from posting, commenting, or liking posts and comments.

Text before revealing can be anything.
Text can be very long,

And contain markdown

Even images

Like this one!

I don't think
There's a good

Way to do this with the old spoiler system, at least that I can think of.

The fact that everything stays collapsed in one line is something I really like about the spoiler system also.

Clicking Lemmy links usually brings you to the original instance of the link, which means you won't be able to interact (vote/comment). It also means it'll open in a browser instead of an app.

Luckily, for some apps, there's a better way to open links. The method in this post will work on Eternity, Sync, Liftoff, Summit, and partially Jerboa.

Eternity (Infinity)

When you see a Lemmy link, share it with the Infinity app, then tap 'Handle Link'. That's it.

To get links to open fully automatically, go to App Info > Open by default > Add link. (This won't work with all Lemmy links, only about 60 instances).

Sync, Liftoff, Summit, & Jerboa

  1. Download the Lemmy Redirect app:

IzzyOnDroid

GitHub

  1. Go into the Lemmy Redirect app, and tap 'Main' next to the app you use.

Now when you see a Lemmy link, share it and open it in Lemmy Redirect. It should open in the app you chose.

More info

  • On Jerboa, links to communities will work, and posts from your own instance will work. Posts from other instances will not.
  • Sync, Summit, and Jerboa have an option in App Settings > Open by default, to open links fully automatically, but this will only work with some instances (~60 in Jerboa, 51 in Sync, 14 in Summit).
  • Eternity also works with Lemmy Redirect but the other method is easier.

Opening Automatically

Lemmy Redirect has the option to open all Lemmy links fully automatically by either:

  • Using Shizuku
  • Manually adding all 1,500 links (Not recommended)
  • Using LinkSheet (IzzyOnDroid) (GitHub)

Other Apps

For other apps, I couldn't find an easy way to do it, but there is a more annoying way to do it:

  1. Copy the Lemmy link.
  2. Go to your instance's search bar in a browser, and paste the link.

The post should show up in a way you can interact with.

  1. If you really need to you can save the post and open it in an app.

That's it. If you think anything in this post should be updated, let me know!

I would hate such a change. I can't see emoji reactions ever being better than seeing a single number for vote count.

Reddit did kinda have their own emoji reactions, but they locked them behind a paywall, and called them awards. I don't think anyone liked them, even if it wasn't for the money. They cluttered the UI, they were annoying, even Reddit didn't like them, since they're removing them now.

Now imagine that but instead of a few people who paid Reddit for some reason, everyone can do it, for free. Thousands of emoji reactions per post.

Emoji reactions work for chat platforms since only a few people see each chat, but after a few hundred people see the post it becomes meaningless emoji spam (see discord announcement channels)

Reddit tried to remove https://i.reddit.com, but they forgot that you could access it by going to https://reddit.com/.i

Wouldn't be surprised if they would remove RSS feeds but forgot they exist
