Report says a large part of it is due to increases in severe weather events due to climate change so I guess you reap what you sow. Still doesn't begin to capture the costs of car usage but at least it's a start. Sucks for lower income people who need a car but we need things like this to push people away from car ownership and onto public transit otherwise the inertia of car dependence will stimy any efforts to improve public transit.

Inb4 "but public transit sucks right now I need a car", yes it does but no politician is going to invest in making it better if everyone's driving. We need to push people onto public transit so they can experience how bad it is and pressure there representatives to improve it. If we don't the status quo will remain, the planet will get warmer, more severe weather events will happen and people will die.

Adding on to the other answers here, assuming the jammer makes the operator lose control of the drone then the drone would have to seek the jammer autonomously. Even disregarding the usual problems with autonomous seek and destroy bombs, since the drone is programmed to follow the jammer the enemy can move the jammer and effectively guide the drones, either far away until they run out of battery and die, or even worse back towards you / your allies

I don't doubt that people don't like migrants, but most people don't like them because they "cause crime" or "take jobs" ( problems way smaller then the right wing media narrative about them) but the people in this photo are doing neither. These people are just existing as people of color which only upsets people who don't like migration simply because it allows more people of color to exist in the u.s. The people who don't like migrants because of that are racists and a minority of Americans, at least I hope they are.

Ask yourself why is the second photo bad and the first one good?

If this was there normal fear mongering of "look at this ms-13 member who raped and killed 5 kids" then yeah a normal person would probably get scared at that and want trump for immigration. But this is just a bunch of black people chilling, they aren't brandishing weapons or rioting or anything out of order. This literally only caters to people who feel threatened by the mere existence of black people, ie. Racists.

The 30% rule is generally about gross pay. Their gross income is about 20k a month.

Regardless though the 11k a month take home doesn't make much sense. That would mean they're paying closer to 100k in taxes plus another 20k on other deductions, which even on the west coast is absurd.

I feel more comfortable walking around them, they never blow stop lights /signs, always go the speed limit, never honk (except when parking I guess) and are very patient. If they see a pedestrian they just stop instead of creeping forward making you question whether to walk in front of them and then getting mad when you won't cross in front of their still moving car like people.

in the States you can sometimes go miles in between homes

Is that supposed to be a lot? The average electric scooter can go 10s of miles these days. The average American lives in the suburbs and drives around 40 miles a day if they commute, which is becoming less common with work from home. While almost every climate report says we need to bring that number down, even if we don't evs can easily handle that. Most pure evs coming out these days have at least a 200 mile range and even a lot of plug in hybrids can handle 40 miles . As for charging installation you can plug a level 1 charger into any old outlet at night and have it charged up for the commute by the morning. You only have to pay for installation if you want level 2 or 3.

Evs work well for the average American. It may make long distance road trips a bit harder but maybe adding a bit more friction on that could be a good thing as it would encourage us to build out more of our abysmal rail system, because current American driving habits are unsustainable.

That's cause there's effectively no collateral. Cars retain at least some of there value after it's used and your required to get insurance on it, so if it's totalled you can get a new one for collateral. Scooters retain even less of there value when used and are way harder to sell, they also usually are uninsured so if you wreck it there's nothing left for the bank to repo.

It's be better if the government could do the financing since they are a public good and they can stand to loose a couple thousand if someone wrecks there scooter.

Bidens about to go down as one of the worst Democrats in the last century because of his hubris if he doesn't. His decent domestic agenda will be overshadowed by him ushering in another trump presidency by ignoring all the signs for him to drop out. He didn't early last year when polls repeatedly showed that people thought he was too old. He didn't when unnamed democrat was leading him by 10 points. He didn't when his Gaza policy alienated large chunks of his base. If he doesn't in the next couple weeks when there will probably be polls coming out showing majority support for him stepping down then he's gone full head in the sand.

It's like RBG all over again, if these people could just get it through there heads to quit while there ahead they could preserve a decent legacy, instead of tarnishing it by leading the way to a regressive order that overturns everything they've done.

According to wikipedia this is the less likely and imo less interesting explanation. They did find coconuts that are genetically distinct from the ones the Spanish brought over from the Philippines, but those ones are more distantly related to the ones in polynesia so they probably didn't float over. Instead they are more likely evidence of pre-columbian contact of Polynesians with south and central America, along with sweet potatoes originating in South America but being present in polynesia and SEA prior to columbus.

So this would boot Columbus off the podium in people who discovered America.

  1. Bering strait people / native American ancestors

  2. Polynesian people

  3. Vikings, Leif Erickson

  4. Columbus

Trump said in a Truth Social post Tuesday. “Biden’s hatred of Bitcoin only helps China, Russia, and the Radical Communist Left. We want all the remaining Bitcoin to be MADE IN THE USA!!! It will help us be ENERGY DOMINANT!!!”

Didn't COMMUNIST China ban it mostly because it was putting strain on their grid? Not sure how wasting states worth of electricity to fuel a glorified ponzi scheme is going to help with energy dominance but who am I to question the self-proclaimed genius.

It's on the non stick coating for a lot of pans and can easily flake off and be ingested if you damage it by using metal utensils. This is why you should never use metal on nonstick.
