Their propaganda methods are also meant to make everyone feel alone. For the conservatives, it makes them feel powerful, like this is all working, like they're the self reliant culture warriors they always dreamed of being. For the empathetic, it makes us feel like we don't have enough power to band together and resist them. That's why right now songs and soup are everything. They make you feel like you're connected to whoever taught you the song, sings the song with you, or that you teach the song to. The soup fills your belly and gives you the energy to power forward, and the soup you make is also one of the few true choices you have in desperate times. You're surrounded by the illusion of choice, but soup, soup is something we the underclasses own. You can put anything in your soup as long as you like the resulting soup, and when you feed it to someone else they receive the results of your choices, and they gain an understanding of you.

Conservatives fear empathy, and they've announced it in broad daylight. They fear it because its what erodes their movement. It's what gives us the power to act against them. I don't know where you're located @Grumpyleb@lemmus.org, but I advise that everyone on earth is more connected to the resistance and danger of fascism even if they think they're away from it. Learn some songs, make some soup. These are the most powerful pieces of propaganda in the face of the horrors of our lived reality. A family in Kyiv taught me in 2012 while they were hosting my boss that a war is fought with bullets and bombs, but it's won with boycotts and boots. For 13 years I've carried this wisdom with me and now I'm sharing it with you and anyone else who finds this comment

It always was, is, and will be about slavery.

and here in the states it's a matter of time before they start shipping anyone with pale skin, curly hair, and large noses to israel because the evangelicals don't want a safe place for the jews, they want the jews in their midst gone

nah it was a destination wedding location. it was not used to disseminate information about the horror of slavery, it was used to promote disinformation about the lost cause of the south myth.

this is part of why the holocaust survivors spoke differently of being liberated by a Ukrainian corps vs being transferred into russian custody. rape is part of the russian system of terror.

russia is no ones ally. they never will be. the world cannot be free as long as the imperial powers exist and colonize.

motherfucker, what? the "war" was over immediately. it's been all one killing field ever since. any help to israel in that time has only been in service of making the machinery of genocide faster. this is no different than ibm providing equipment to make the nazis faster at genocide

Do you think this warrants 8 strong questions, or do you think this will be more of an "8 you know pretty okay" questions or just 4 strong questions?

science fictiun has been warning about a surveillance state that becomes so pervasive it penetrates your thoughts for decades. but we never really wrote any speculative fiction about the state planting evidence of thoughts on you

new rule. holding an eggplant next to the periodicals at the library means "i would like to be hit on, please"

Jimbo is also frankly less iconic than milhouse

actually pretty typical for a recurring character like this. you start small and outside of regular context and keep expanding so the weekly audience can acclimate to the change

context: they're going out of business

there's something beautiful that every individual has their own image for what Baberaham Lincoln looks like. like you read that, and it evokes for you in your head your very own Baberaham Lincoln

I just want to have a discussion about this. All of the remakes and reboots hollywood has done throughout its history have always been a way of just making money by putting all the money on "sure" bets, things that producers already know people like because they were successful before, but there's something exceptionally soulless about the Disney reboots.

There seems to be no true desire to introduce a new generation to stories they weren't familiar with, but instead a desire to just rewrite disneys entire catalog to be presented in a new aesthetic. It's a homogenization of film to a single set of techniques and looks. Capitalism is directly strangling creativity and it's being successful enough that it's seemingly never going to stop. I mean. They're rebooting movies that aren't even 20 years old yet at this point. There are people in college seeing promos for reboots of movies their parents took them to as kids.

It's creating this environment where we're all stuck in this moment that already passed. The media we consume now was written in response to events that happened already, have passed us by, and can no longer be addressed. Any attempts to make new media that meet our current moment are stifled by studios who just... Don't care.

Well y'all finally went and did it. You got me to comment in your community, so now I gotta post something before I leave. I hope you're happy. I mean honestly. Is this what you wanted? Do you like this? Do you like my shitty shit post?

Don't ever let it be said I don't follow the rules

Posting from my alt account because file uploads seem to still not be working on beehaw

For the screen readers: This is a very small preying mantis that was on my door this morning. It is about the length of my first finger's first bone (the finger tip).

Lionir elected to prevent any potential data leaks by shutting down Beehaw until the issues lemmy.world and lemmy.blahaj.zone are identified and resolved

Not much to add. Saw it in another technology forum and thought it also belonged here for the solarpunks
