I agree with you. And I really hope human voice acting and voice-overs remain a thing. It irritates me when I find an interesting YouTube video and then it's clear that the narration is being done using an AI voice. The quality of them is improving, but they are still pretty obvious. Give me an actual human narrator every time.

Surprised nobody here has mentioned Mr Rogers Neighborhood yet.

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So... at e rush if bringing up a contentious topic, Sesko or Gyorkeres... Who would you prefer?

Seems like Sesko has been tested a bit more due to being in a better league. Plus he's younger and probably has a higher ceiling. But in some ways he's more of a risk, because he might have more trucks adapting to the PL's pace and intensity. Not to mention he will cost more. But he's open to a move to us.

Gyorkeres has an insane goal ratio, and he'd probably be a bit cheaper. But it sounds like he's not even open to a move to England.

Ultimately I'd love to see if somehow get both. But realistically it's extremely unlikely that will happen. Honestly, if we can bring in one of them - either one - I'd be very happy. I just really don't want to see us relying on Jesus or Haven't up front again, it's be forced to play an 8 as our striker.

Oooh you're right. Thanks. I'll correct that.

Okay, that makes more sense. Thanks for the explanation.

I always love the idea of transfer season, and the uncertainty and excitement of it. But it's such a hassle to actually sift through all these sources and a sea of bullshit articles. Most of them are so bad it's not even funny.

Case in point, Football Express:

Arsenal are also looking forward to signing Hugo Ekitike in the summer transfer window. It is also said that Arsenal are now out of the race to sign Hugo Ekitike.

Holy shit, which is it? Hedging your bets or sharing directly conflicting takes like that without clear context just makes you look bad!

And don't get me started on the clickbait headlines and the 'Arsenal legend says club will sign...' Usually it's someone like William Gallas (who is nowhere near to bring an Arsenal legend!) saying we should sign someone. And that someone is usually someone who is completely unavailable it astronomically priced.

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

I know Gyorkeres has been absolutely killing it in the Portuguese league for a few seasons. But I feel like Sesko 's ceiling is a bit higher. Plus, he's been playing in a more competitive league, and he's five years younger. So it's very difficult to compare the two numbers-wise.

I would be very happy with either of them, since I think both would do a great job. My fever dream is that we sign both of them, but I know that's not going to happen. If I had to choose between them I'd probably veer slightly towards Sesko.

He's also saying we're on the verge of having Big Gabi nailed down with a new and improved contract. Which is great news. I wonder if the new contract includes rights to clone him. Because he is an absolutely monster. Some fans of other clubs are starting to realize how good he is. But he's still ridiculously underrated by many.

Congratulations Donald, you just 'Streisand Effect'ed yourself.

If you'd have just rolled your eyes and said something like "yeah, they're a bunch of jokers, eh?" everyone would have forgotten about that term within a few days.

But now the world knows that nickname gets deep under your skin. It's going to haunt you like bad gas after a large McDonald's meal.

Introduction

Below is a list of transfer rumours for possible incoming transfers during the summer transfer window of 2025, along with some key pieces of information.

MEN'S TEAM

Players In

Confirmed Ins

Potential Ins

Julián Alvarez

  • Positions: Striker
  • Age: 25
  • Current club: Atletico Madrid
  • Likelihood: Very Unlikely (2/10) 🆕 - The former Man City forward has had a great season with Atletico. Idle chatter has it that we are interested in him (probably due to the Arteta/Man City connection). But Alvarez only signed with Atletico last season, and he's been saying he's happy in Spain and reticent to move back to the PL. So this one seems dead on arrival.

Lucien Agoume

  • Positions: Defensive Midfield
  • Age: 23
  • Current club: Sevilla
  • Likelihood: Very Unlikely (2/10) ➖ - Some idle chatter about this one, but given that Zumbimendi is almost certain to sign, and we are also likely to extend Partey as a back-up, this one doesn't seem to have much credence.

Liam Delap

  • Positions: Striker
  • Age: 22
  • Current club: Ipswich Town
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) 🔽 - Delap has impressed in a struggling Ipswich team this season. And he has attracted a lot of attention with their relegation and presumptive need for money to bounce back. Rumours started circulating a few weeks ago that we are looking to bring him in. This would be in addition to someone like Gyökeres or Sesko. He's young but a proven performer with lots of potential. And his cost wouldn't be astronomical. But we'd face fierce competition to sign him from other big clubs, notably Man United who he already has connections to.

Eberechi Eze

  • Positions: Left Wing, Attacking Midfield
  • Age: 26
  • Current club: Crystal Palace
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - The former Arsenal Academy player has been catching the eye of many clubs following a dazzling season with Palace. But with a couple more years left on his current contract and the lure of the Europa League next season, it's more likely he will stay in South London.

Joan Garcia

  • Positions: Goalkeeper
  • Age: 24
  • Current club: Espanyol
  • Likelihood: Possible (4/10) ➖ - Arteta has been keen on him for over a year now. He's highly thought of, especially in Spain. So there might be competition for him, notably from his current club's local rivals, Barcelona. There are conflicting rumours on Garcia, with some saying he wants to stay in Spain.

Alejandro Garnacho

  • Positions: Attacking Midfield
  • Age: 20
  • Current club: Manchester United
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - He wants to leave, and Amorin is fine with him leaving. Some rumours are linking Garnacho to us. But realistically, they won't want to sell him to us, and the chances of him becoming a gunner seem fairly slim.

Jamie Gittens

  • Positions: Left Wing
  • Age: 20
  • Current club: Borussia Dortmund
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - The young Englishman's star has been rising in Germany. He wouldn't break the bank for us, but equally, he'd still cost a fair amount.

Anthony Gordon

  • Positions: Left Wing
  • Age: 24
  • Current club: Newcastle
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - One of Newcastle's gems, he is formidable down the left wing. But it seems unlikely Newcastle would part with him, especially to a PL rival.

Viktor Gyökeres

  • Positions: Striker
  • Age: 26
  • Current club: Sporting CP
  • Likelihood: Possible (6/10) 🔽 - We've been linked with him all through the season. He has been dominating the Portuguese top flight, and Berta is a huge fan of him. But there are questions whether the former Coventry player can hack it in the PL. Rumour has it that it'll be either him or Sesko coming in. Chatter is that we've now put a bid in for him, but that he and his family don't want to leave.

Alexander Isak

  • Positions: Striker
  • Age: 25
  • Current club: Newcastle
  • Likelihood: Very Unlikely (2/10) ➖ - Oh what could have been! We had the chance to sign him a few years ago, but passed on him. He's now become a massive talent and Newcastle's most prized player, and they wouldn't part with him for absolutely silly money, no matter how much Arteta would love to add him to our squad.

Bilal El Khannouss

  • Positions: Attacking Midfield
  • Age: 21
  • Current club: Leicester City
  • Likelihood: Possible (4/10) 🆕 - He had a great season with a struggling Leicester, who may now be open to cashing in on him in their bid to bounce back to the Premier League. He's currently valued at around £30 million, which isn't too bad. Although attacking midfield probably isn't our top priority right now position-wise.

Takefusa Kubo

  • Positions: Right Wing
  • Age: 23
  • Current club: Real Sociedad
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) 🆕 - The young Japan international is now on the transfer rumours radar, with us and Liverpool being listed as possible targets. But sources are flimsy right now, so it's hard to see this one as more than just casual spitballing or agent hyping at the moment.

Rafael Leão

  • Positions: Left Wing
  • Age: 25
  • Current club: AC Milan
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - Might be out of favour in Milan and looking to move on. There's talk that Berta has been in talks with Milan over a move for him. But there's no substantive sources for this one yet.

Ademola Lookman

  • Positions: Striker
  • Age: 27
  • Current club: Atalanta
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - He's looking to move on from Atalanta, apparently. He's English, has decent experience, and wouldn't break the bank. But unless he's brought in as a backup for Gyökeres or Sesko, it seems he'd only be a contingency as our new main man.

Emiliano Martinez

  • Positions: Goalkeeper
  • Age: 32
  • Current club: Aston Villa
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - The former gunner looks set to leave Villa this summer. And there's some flimsy chatter that we will go in for him, probably on the back of him professing he still loves the Arsenal. But given how he left us before, this doesn't seem like the kind of path Arteta will want to re-tread.

Bryan Mbeumo

  • Positions: Right Wing
  • Age: 25
  • Current club: Brentford
  • Likelihood: Possible (4/10) ➖ - He's been on fire for Brentford this season, and is a consistent threat down the right wing. But does he have the versatility that Arteta likes? And would he be okay with being behind Saka in the pecking order?

Yankuba Minteh

  • Positions: Right Wing
  • Age: 20
  • Current club: Brighton & Hove Albion
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) 🆕 - Yet another new right winger to be mentioned as a potential transfer target of us. He had a decent season and is presumably might be seen as one for the future. But as with other names, the sources for this rumour are lightweight at the moment.

Kaoru Mitoma**

  • Positions: Left Wing
  • Age: 28
  • Current club: Brighton & Hove Albion
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - The talented Japanese international has had another good season with Brighton. But he might not be the right versatility and age profile for Arteta.

Rodrygo

  • Positions: Right Wing
  • Age: 24
  • Current club: Real Madrid
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - Chatter started up a couple of weeks ago that we were going in for the Brazilian who may be out of favour with incoming manager Alonso. But his wages would be astronomical, and considering we already have Saka, Nwaneri, Martinelli, and Trossard who can play on the right, this one seems doubtful.

Leroy Sane

  • Positions: Right Wing
  • Age: 29
  • Current club: Bayern Munich
  • Likelihood: Possible (4/10) 🔼 - The winger is looking to move on from Bayern Munich. And just like last summer he is being linked to us. But his wages make that look unlikely.

Andrey Santos

  • Positions: Central Midfield
  • Age: 21
  • Current club: Chelsea
  • Likelihood: Very Unlikely (2/10) ➖ - He's impressed on loan at Strasbourg. But it seems very unlikely that Chelsea will sell the young Brazilian to a big rival.

Benjamin Sesko

  • Positions: Striker
  • Age: 21
  • Current club: RB Leipzig
  • Likelihood: Likely (7/10) 🔼 - Is this 2024 again? Despite him signing a new contract with Leipzig last summer, apparently we are still interested and may even be informal negotiations for him. Arteta is very keen on him. Rumour has it that it'll be either him or Gyökeres coming in. The latest (from Romano) is that we've started actively pursuing him. Leipzig are demanding £93 million which is steep for a 21 year old. But we have a formidable war chest this summer, so it might still be on.

Ollie Watkins

  • Positions: Striker
  • Age: 29
  • Current club: Aston Villa
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - The ship appeared to sell on this one last winter, when we went in for him but were rebuffed (to the annoyance of the player, apparently). Unless Villa bring in some new blood to replace the want-away Watkins, it seems unlikely he'll be joining us now.

Nico Williams

  • Positions: Left Wing
  • Age: 22
  • Current club: Athletic Bilbao
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - Another of the legion of rumours coming back in from last summer. He's liked by Arteta. But it seems more likely he'll stay in Spain.

Martin Zubimendi

  • Positions: Defensive Midfield
  • Age: 26
  • Current club: Real Sociedad
  • Likelihood: Very Likely (9/10) ➖ - Very strong rumours that Arteta (who is a long-standing admirer of him) has won over the player and an announcement on the transfer is imminent. And a deal with the club has been done, but we've been waiting until the season finished out of respect for Sociedad. Romano has even given a non-committal "here we go" on this one, although work apparently still needs to be done. As of May 27th Romano is sticking by his "here we go" on Zubimendi. He is still adamant Martin will be joining us.

Former Potential Ins

Players Out

Confirmed Outs (Permanent Departures):

  • Jorginho - Heading out to Flamenco.
  • Nuno Tavares - Set to be bought by Lazio for peanuts after a surprisingly good loan spell.
  • Kieran Tierney - Heading back to Celtic. Gosdpeed Tesco Roadman! You will be missed!

Potential Outs List

Karl Hein

  • Positions: Goalkeeper
  • Likelihood: Likely (6/10) ➖ - Even though he signed a new contract with us last summer, it's unlikely he'll be staying. We are stacked with promising Academy keepers, and even though Neto's loan is ending, Arteta and Berta are looking to bring in a replacement who can compete with Raya. The fact that Hein isn't publicly in the equation suggests he's not in Arteta's long-term future plans, regardless of his contract situation. There's a possibility he may be kept for next season if a new keeper like Garcia is brought in and then immediately loaned out for a season, or if we fail to find a new backup keeper.

Jakub Kiwior

  • Positions: Left Back, Central Defence
  • Likelihood: Possible (5/10) ➖ - He's coveted by some Serie A teams, and despite some good appearances for the injured Gabriel, he seems destined to be a rotation/back-up choice. But there's been no word about him wanting to leave.

Marquinhos

  • Positions: Right Wing
  • Likelihood: Very Likely (8/10) ➖ - After another underwhelming loan spell he's now left with only 7 months on his current contract. He wouldn't be getting a renewal, so expect him to be either released or loaned out until his current contract expires.

Reiss Nelson

  • Positions: Right Wing
  • Likelihood: Very Likely (9/10) ➖ - We couldn't offload him last summer so he instead went on loan to Fulham, where he barely featured. It seems extremely unlikely he has a path into our first team at this late stage in his career.

Thomas Partey

  • Positions: Defensive Midfield, Right Back
  • Likelihood: Possible (5/10) ➖ - He seemed destined to be on the way out due to his contract expiring, despite his interest in staying. But a new contract is being discussed now, with him being transitioned into a back-up for the incoming Zubimendi.

Albert Sambi Lokonga

  • Positions: Defensive Midfield, Central Midfield
  • Likelihood: Very Likely (8/10) ➖ - He's definitely not in Arteta's plans for next season after some underwhelming performances for us last season (or was it the season before?!) And after another underwhelming loan spell, it seems inevitable we will try to offload him before his contract expires next summer - either in a permanent deal or via another loan spell.

Leandro Trossard

  • Positions: Left Wing, Right Wing, Attacking Midfield, Striker
  • Likelihood: Very Unlikely (2/10) ➖ - There's been some chatter that we are looking to offload Trossard 'for the right price'. However, there's also been solid rumours that we want to increase his salary while not extending the duration of the current contract. The latter sounds much more plausible. Trossard has been a dependable, versatile, and capable attacker for us in a difficult season. And given that we already have a thin squad and are likely to lose some players, it makes no sense that we get rid of him.

Fabio Vieira

  • Positions: Right Wing, Attacking Midfield
  • Likelihood: Likely (7/10) ➖ - After flashes of brilliance last year combined with many mediocre substitute appearances, he went on loan back to Portugal. There he has not set the world alight. It seems likely Arteta is done with him at this point, and the club will hope to move him on to pastures new.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

  • Positions: Left Back, Defensive Midfield
  • Likelihood: Possible (6/10) ➖ - He's become a bench warmer this season, having been displaced by the amazing Myles Lewis-Skelly. And Zinky doesn't seem to have a path back into the first team. However, given how injury-prone Tomiyasu and Calafiori are, it's quite possible Arteta will keep him around for another season as a reliable back-up.

Confirmed Loans

WOMEN'S TEAM

Players In

Confirmed Ins

Potential Ins

Ellie Carpenter

  • Positions: Defender
  • Age: 25
  • Current club: Lyon
  • Likelihood: Possible (4/10) 🆕 - The Australian is rumored to be considering a move to an English club, with Arsenal a tempting destination if an offer is put in.

Chloe Kelly

  • Positions: Striker
  • Age: 27
  • Current club: Manchester City
  • Likelihood: Likely (7/10) ➖ - Arrived on loan from Man City having become disillusioned there. Both Kelly and Man City announced at the start of the loan spell that neither saw her having a future in Manchester. And since then she's publicly declared how happy she is to be a gunner. The club seems happy with her too, so a permanent transfer looks likely.

Keira Walsh

  • Positions: Midfielder
  • Age: 28
  • Current club: Manchester City
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) 🆕 - Rumoured to be linked to a move to us this summer.

Renee Slegers had not played or managed beyond the group stages of the Women's Champions League before taking charge of Arsenal this season.

Just four months after being named the Gunners' head coach on a permanent basis, the 36-year-old has led the Gunners to Champions League glory for the first time in 18 years.

But how did the Dutchwoman - billed as the "next Sarina Wiegman" - rise up the ranks to become one of Europe's best young coaches?

Here's the story of Slegers - the player, the coach, and the person behind it all.

Iwobi didn't want to leave us in 2019, and was happy to compete with the incoming Pepe for a starting place on the wing. Emery also didn't want Alex to leave, and had plans for him (probably as more of a squad player). But Iwobi was the most valuable player deemed surplus to requirements, and Everton were keen to fork over £34m for him.

Arsenal have offered centre-back Will Sweet a professional contract ahead of next season.

Sweet enjoyed an impressive campaign which included him making ten appearances for the U21s as well as featuring in the UEFA Youth League.

The Hale End product wore the captain’s armband yesterday as he made his final appearance at U18 level in a 3-0 win away to Aston Villa.

We became the first team, either domestically or in European competition, to beat Madrid at the Bernabeu on each of our first two visits.

We also became the first English side to win there twice.

It was also just the fourth time in Real's history that they had lost a European Cup or Champions League game by an aggregate margin of four or more.

We are the Arsenal!

"Berta prioritised Arsenal above a number of other top-level opportunities and those suitors have been told about the 53-year-old’s decision."
