The way I see it, America has lost its 'pioneer/ spirit of innovation.' A lot of the people at the top of these companies, such as the auto industry, want to keep things the way they are because it makes them money. If big time innovation starts to creep in, if it hurts their position/ financials, that's not good for them -- even if it benefits everyone.
