As the post text indicates, this particular graffiti was put up in the lead up to a planned far right protest in which fascists broadcast their intentions to swarm the area and harm refugees taking asylum. The answer to your question is very simple in this case.

Is the person in question a part of a far right mob attacking asylum seekers? If yes, kick their asses out of the city.

Local antifascists and punks have been in fact doing just that over the last several days there. Its really not complicated.

Thanks for the well written and thoughtful response. I appreciate your insights and personal experience.

I will say that this is not a space that's friendly to defending liberalism (even so called progressive liberals like Harris or AOC) or the use of state violence to solve any of society's problems.

With your comment in mind, and not out of any respect for electoral politics, I'll try to be more thoughtful with my criticisms in the future.

I've banned people for violating multiple of our community guidelines, not for disliking or criticizing my post.

At the end of the day, Ada never intended this instance to be explicitly in favor of any particular political view. Its a queer friendly instance first and foremost. Queer people aren't always going to agree on every political subject. Obviously the degree to which room can be made for different political views has it's limits. Fascism and conservativism clearly have no place here, for example, but that's really not what this is about.

Do I think MindTraveller's behavior is abusive and inflammatory? Probably. But whether they should be banned for it isn't my decision, nor is it an easy one when from their point of view LibertyHub is causing active harm to the queer community. I don't agree with that opinion, but they should be allowed to express it in a respectful manner.

I expressed a similar sentiment elsewhere in this thread about Grail.

To be honest, I mostly agree with you about MindTraveller, but I think your criticism of Ada is too harsh.

I'm not going to invalidate Grail's experience with Their gender. Outside of western culture, there is actually some history of gender diverse folks being culturally elevated to, or at least associated with, divinity. Grail's gender identity isn't on trial here. Let's not devolve the conversation to exclusionary language about a person's identity. This isn't about whether goddessgender is a queer or trans identity or whether we should respect Their desires when addressing Them.

It's about Grail being an inflammatory troll.

For real. Ada's always the most level headed person in the room. Exactly what we need in an admin.

Thanks Ada. I'm sorry this place seems to be constantly surrounded by drama.

Copying my comment on the Blahaj meta post about this -

I haven't chimed in any of the times that LibertyHub and LinkOpensChest.wav have been brought up here in a controversial light.

That said, I have REALLY enjoyed the LibertyHub community for not making me constantly feel disenfranchised or defensive about my political views. The heavy handed moderation style has made it a really great community for me to discuss things I care about without needing to constantly refute whataboutisms and general lib shit.

That type of community isn't for everyone, and that's by design. We don't need everyone to feel welcome in every community. LibertyHub is explicitly for like-minded leftists that don't want to put up with authoritarian or capitalist sympathizers. It needs to be heavily moderated to be that kind of community.

I'm not even the type of person to block communities or users that I disagree with. I just want to have one good bastion of Lemmy where I don't feel the need to explain or argue about why inexcusable things are inexcusable.

LibertyHub under LinkOpensChest.wav's moderation has been great for that.

I hope the general moderation style doesn't change because of this.

I think "What Remains of Edith Finch" traumatized me to this day.

Texas sabotaging public education again? Color me shocked. No doubt the lower test scores will be used to justify privatizing more schools.

Also 3000 exam responses is luaghably low to train an LLM. These tests are for every 3rd-8th grader. That's less responses than you'd get from a single mid sized school - expected to train an LLM how to grade probably millions of answers across the entire state.

They claim its not an LLM because it doesn't learn as it goes. I'm fairly certain that's been the common implementation since we learned from the older generation of chatbots all turning to Nazis after being trolled by 4chan.
