2023.10.04 SOTD:

  • Prep: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser

  • Brush: AKA Brushworks Amethyst Watchman with 26mm AP Shave Co G5C

  • Razor: Chiseled Face Legacy AL

  • Blade: Gillette Nacet (3)

  • Lather: Seaforth! Sea Ice Lime

  • Post Shave: Alum, Stirling Mentholated Unscented Witch Hazel and Aloe, Seaforth! Sea Ice Lime Aftershave Splash, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry

Did 2 passes on my face and 3 + cleanup on my neck. Didn't do a straight ATG pass (just went south to north) and it turned out good. Not quite as smooth, but very close with less fuss. Still not completely sold on Nacet blades, though, which is a shame.

Due to the Spearhead sale, I will not be using another soap until I kill this tub so that my purchase of another SIL tub can be justified.

2023.09.22 SOTD:

  • Prep: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser & Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap

  • Brush: Paragon Shaving Plisson knot (28mm) with Paragon handle

  • Razor: Chiseled Face Legacy AL

  • Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium Extra Stainless (5)

  • Lather: Chiseled Face Banana

  • Post Shave: Alum, Stirling Mentholated Unscented Witch Hazel and Aloe, Stirling Glacial Unscented aftershave balm, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry

Got a CF Legacy in the mail yesterday from the Zaar, so of course I had to christen it with CF Banana. I'm very impressed with the razor. Probably should've used a fresh blade, but even still it was fantastic. I can see it turning into one of my favorites. Did a 3 pass shave with some cleanup which resulted in a DFS with no irritation (though I did stupidly nick a mole).

As a bonus, I used SW Boonana frag. Just felt right.

2023.09.19 SOTD:

  • Prep: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser & Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap

  • Brush: AKA Brushworks Amethyst Watchman with 26mm AP Shave Co G5C

  • Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable

  • Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium Extra Stainless (3)

  • Lather: Hoffman's Cookie Monster

  • Post Shave: Alum, Stirling Mentholated Unscented Witch Hazel and Aloe, House of Mammoth Rumble Aftershave Splash, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry

/u/Priusaurus kindly sent over a smush of Cookie Monster. This is my first time using Hoffman's. I'd say the quality of the lather was good, and the scent was quite nice. I got more of a hot chocolate impression than cookies, but it was still nice. I see this being a good cold weather scent.

Good shave today. 3 passes. No issues at all.

Good shave again today. The mild Henson is always a comfortable and easy shave. Hardest part of my shave this morning was keeping my cat from drinking the sink water while I was shaving.

3 pass shave - 0 irritation and a DFS result. Once again these Wizamet blades prove to be fantastic. Nothing else to say, really.

Wanted an easy shave today, so I went with my Henson. Worked incredibly well with the Wizamet blade. 3 passes, no fuss, and a very smooth shave. Definitely looking like I need to grab some more of these blades.

2023.09.08 SOTD:

  • Prep: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser

  • Brush: AKA Brushworks Amethyst Watchman with 26mm AP Shave Co G5C

  • Razor: Gem Jr. 1912

  • Blade: Personna Gem PTFE (4)

  • Lather: Catie's Bubbles Waterlyptus

  • Post Shave: Alum, Stirling Mentholated Unscented Witch Hazel and Aloe, House of Mammoth Rumble Aftershave Splash w/ Permafrost, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry

First time using Catie's Bubbles. It's a fantastic soap you've made, /u/C_Bubbles. Waterlyptus smells fantastic, and I'll definitely have to check out more CB stuff in the future.

Shave number four with the Gem, and same as before. Good shave, but not close at all. Plus, my ATG was very unpleasant to the point that I didn't attempt at all (I'm 95% this is a result of my shave yesterday and not the fault of the Gem). Still working on perfecting it. I didn't ride the cap entirely today, held it at the slightest of angle. Will try again tomorrow; I will not be bested by a hunk of metal.

  • Lather: Summer Break Soaps Daydream

  • Post Shave: Alum, Stirling Mentholated Unscented Witch Hazel and Aloe, Summer Break Soaps Remote Learning Aftershave Splash, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry

Take number 2 with my Gem., but still not able to achieve a close shave. The shave was better than attempt #1, but that wouldn't take much. I'm sure I'll get better the more I use it, but that will take time. I did make sure to ride the cap like crazy this shave, which is probably why it was better than the last. 3+ pass shave.

2023.09.02 SOTD:

First shave using a Gem style SE razor. First things first, HoM Rumble is fantastic. Great lather and wonderful smell. For the shave, though, I honestly am unsure about. I think most of that was my own lack of knowledge on how to properly use the razor, and the fact that I went into "stupid" mode trying to get a close shave. I did three passes, then I just kept going over rough spots on my neck. I eventually got to an acceptable state (not quite DFS; nowhere near BBS), but it took a long time. Despite all of that, though, it was an easy shave and comfortable shave. Right up there with my Henson+. 0 nicks or cuts and 0 irritation (as of right now, wouldn't be surprised if I ended up with a couple ingrown hairs due to my exuberance). I'm hoping with a better technique I can get a more efficient shave out of it, but if not I can always try a more aggressive SE (MM24, maybe?). I think I'll give myself a break tomorrow and try again on Monday.

2023.08.08 SOTD (#UNCHALLENGE shave #8):

  • Prep: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser

  • Brush: AKA Brushworks Amethyst Watchman with 26mm AP Shave Co G5C

  • Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable

  • Post Shave: Stirling Mentholated Unscented Witch Hazel and Aloe, Seaforth! Sea Ice Lime Aftershave Splash, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry

AA Day 8! Quick 2 pass to start the day. Went better than my last couple shaves, mainly because I stopped being lazy and stayed with my growth pattern.

Has the NBA spilled over to the NHL?

1

Blues acquire Hayes for a 6th-round pick on 2024. Philadelphia is retaining 50% of Hayes' contract. Cap hit will be ~$3.5m

27

Please ignore the slight mess. He had recently dumped a potted plant over and I hadn't had a chance to do a full clean.
