You can get power strips that will sense the load on one outlet and shut all the others off if the load is below a certain amount. They are handy for shutting off those annoying standby LEDs automatically.

My laptop has been up for 123 days. It gets put in standby when it's not in use. I should probably reboot into a new kernel soon.
My desktop gets shut down at night because it's power hungry.
My server gets shut down about once a year for cleaning and hardware upgrades.

It only seems practical for certain receive antennas that already require an impedance matching transformer.

For most uses, RG-6 would be a better choice if you want cheap transmission line. It can easily handle 100 watts as long as you don't use F connectors. For a single band antenna, the coax can be cut to a multiple of a half wavelength and there will be no impedance matching required if the antenna is 50Ω.

This will only be useful if every motherboard manufacturer supports it, which I doubt they will. The PCIe connector really should have been updated to provide sufficient power to GPUs several versions ago.

Running this much power through the motherboard will certainly increase the cost though. It will need additional layers in the PCB to carry an additional 80+ amps.

If you want to tinker with it, stay away from that DJI crap and build your own. Then you can get more than a flight or two without something burning up.

If you let the laptop sit for years, the battery will be dead and there is a small chance that the SSD may be corrupted. They are only rated to retain data for a year without power.

Debian will have updates, but apart from the browser, it will typically only be security and bug fix updates.

It's better to just put the display to sleep when it's not in use anyways. We only used screensavers because CRT monitors took so long to fully warm up.

Yes, they are still good to use. There are also a number of other sizes of cylindrical lithium ion cells available if an 18650 won't fit.

It looks cool, but I'm worried about durability. It doesn't even make the screen that much bigger.

Why? Modern power supplies are very efficient and don't produce much heat. Some don't even turn the fan on until they are under heavy load. Water cooling something that runs on about 400 volts seems like a bad idea.

Just replace the CEO with an AI. It would probably do the job just as poorly, but wouldn't need any payment.

The lack of physical media will just drive more people to piracy.

I picked this little scope up from the Seapac swap meet a week and a half ago for $3. It turns out that all it needed was some contact cleaner to get it working again.

This is a portable scope that can run from 12V DC as well as an internal battery. I don't have the battery for it, but I could probably put some 18650's in there if I disable the built in charger.
