There's no indication (yet) if the strikes were actually successful. One single sortie from 3 bombers (allegedly) is not enough to totally destroy the underground bases.
The "on ramp" would be a massive bombing campaign.
This is the off ramp. Token strikes so Trump can say he didn't chicken out, and Iran has no reason to go sicko mode.
Iran will do some of their own token strikes on empty US bases, and then the ball is back in Israel's court.
He should hire a zillion social workers like he said he was going to, but then start giving them guns and tanks.
This is Israel's endsieg. Doesn't matter to them what their ethnostate looks like when the dust settles, as long as their enemies are eliminated.
They are trying to force Iran into a "use 'em or lose 'em" game with their remaining trump cards (close Gulf, bomb oil). Either they use them preemptively, leaving nothing to deter US involvement, or they wait until Israel eliminates them, which also allows the US to join without repercussions.
The only losers here are Iran and potentially the Arab Gulf states. (Well, the global economy too)
Though to be fair, I'm not sure Israel has the capabilities to completely neutralize the trump cards themselves.

Edit: The recorded depth of the epicenter was allegedly 13km. If that's true, it's too deep to be a nuclear test (I think). 
It's a little sus that Munir went to both the White House and CENTCOM HQ. I hope he makes the right decision.

My take is that this is a "one and done" token strike by Trump to save face and provide an off ramp.
