Most of us thought similar things about the Capitol. Then January 6th happened. Now, not so much.

Is it just the Jewish part that you don't get? The US has so many different active cultures going on in the same spaces that knowing someone's ethnic background can tell you a lot about them and their family. I'm sure some people want to know because they're racist, but for most people it's just a cultural shorthand. Knowing someone is Cuban rather than Puerto Rican, or half Spanish and half Irish tells you what kinds of experiences they might have had, what comfort foods they're likely to eat, how they're likely to celebrate their holidays. Stuff like that. Especially if one of their cultural identities is one that you share, or frequently share the same spaces with, you've probably just found a whole lot of commonalities with that person. Older people might ask. In my experience younger people generally won't. So either it's obvious to you or they tell you or you might not know at all.

From a governmental standpoint, they keep track of different statistics based on ethnicity, supposedly so they can make sure they're not failing any groups of people with representation, healthcare outcomes, policing, etc. It obviously doesn't always work, but that's supposed to be why the government is interested.

If you've not noticed garak and Bashir.... well, it's worth a rewatch just for that.

Having read the standards, possibly the worst part about them is that it's not written such that you have to teach that racist bs, but it's obviously written to give cover to those who do. So it's not so much that it's supporting a bullshit way of looking at slavery as an institution in the past. It's really supporting the horrible people who continue to think that way today, and enabling them to pass it on to a new generation.

A lot of people will tell you the first season isn't worth watching. I'll admit that the acting is a little cheesier, and there are some episodes that you might think are a little heavy handed... but they set the stage for you to feel what you feel when the things they were exploring in the b plots come back in the main arc of the show. There will absolutely be moments 3 and 4 seasons in where you go 'oh shit, they set this up in the second episode!' Because it was heavy handed enough that you will remember it, even thoughbyou didn't get it at the time.

To an extent, you do have to get over the cheesy acting. I see it more like a play than a show with overly realistic acting. Some of the acting is a tool to get things across. And you know what? I don't know how well Londo and G'kar would play out without that cheesy background. There hasn't ever been better character development than those 2.

No, Debian should definitely be the Swiss army knife, and Ubuntu should definitely be the playdoh Swiss army knife.

Whoever he ends up with hit the jackpot. I can't imagine an easier way to make sure someone is happy and fulfilled sexually. Just get yourself a balloon book.

Meanwhile, he passed a bill to strip schools of funding by giving new vouchers to parents for their kids 'education', including homeschool. The money can be spent on a number of things outside school... one if which is Florida theme park admission!

After onboarding the interface is kind of rough to figure out. Mostly because the mobile web version isn't that great, and jerboa also isn't that great, and they're different enough that switching back and forth gets you confused. With reddit's problems, I imagine we'll see some more client apps and ui improvements show up in the next couple months with the added attention, and that'll be the end of that. Honestly, I thought it'd be rougher. I do wish I got more replies to my comments though, so i'm trying to make a point to post a bit more than I ordinarily would.
