Propaganda is propaganda regardless of the fallacies being engaged 🤷

Furthermore just because an argument utilizes a logical fallacy does not invalidate the argument since in context fallacies can be appropriate to use.

It's also entirely fair to make comparisons to the United States and note that the United States and many of their NATO allies also have these problems.

Interesting Source I'll have to keep these guys on my list.

Man it feels like this article could have been written about the United States itself.

The conscription stuff is kind of unique except that multiple countries in NATO also use conscription so 🤷

This feels like it's straight up came from an article about the United States military:

For idealistic youth once drawn by patriotic fervour, the realization is sobering: they are entering not a dignified profession, but an institution hollowed out by greed and favouritism.

Veterans’ post-service struggles only deepen the discontent. Many return to civilian life underemployed, disillusioned, and ignored.

Aren't these also major major problems in European militaries?

I mean they were already doing that in the primary. I expected to get worse like you mentioned.

It doesn't seem like a whole lot of people are falling for this type of rhetoric though.

That's a very interesting viewpoint.

I thought this type of publication would have a lot of Trust behind it because it's supposedly focuses on worker rights And it's supposed to be anti-capitalist in nature.

We have seen times where unions did work with companies and screwed their constituents out of a good deal. Unions don't always work for the betterment of everybody since they are susceptible to Elite capture.

So why make a comment about voter turnout when voter turnout has never been good in a country where the government does not represent the will of the people.

Good luck trying to get all the apathetic people who have been screwed so so much by the system that won't help them to vote.

That's for sure going to be easier than talking to people about the reason why our system sucks and building a new one. 🤙

Honestly one of the best Replacements I've seen yet

[–] dastanktal@lemmy.ml 7 points 5 days ago

Yeah there's like a whole documentary about this on YouTube. They even interview this person.

It was really fascinating but as noted in the Wikipedia article it's not really accepted in any modern publication nowadays so it's all been but retired

Olúfẹ́mi O. Táíwò has book called "Elite Capture" that really expands on this topic for further reading

500 million already in the Eric Adams war chest 😅

I don't think Mamdani will have a whole lot of luck convincing the capitalists. Still stranger things have happened
