It wasn't just that they weren't doing it before.

The Victory Fund allowed a donor to "bundle" donations to like, the Alabama Dem party and a bunch of others, but it would go straight to the DNC to be used for the presidential campaign.

In 2016 when it started we later found out as little as 1% of the state money went to the actual state, and often so late that it didn't matter. That's not even getting into how they've been using that in presidential primaries too.

You remember the noise about "Biden's war chest"? That's what it was, money stolen from small state parties where it was desperately needed.

It's literally the only reasona Republican House is possible.

People need to realize how bad the last DNC was to appreciate how big of an improvement a non biased DNC is.

Progressives dont need help in a primary, just a fair shot. And we're gonna get it. Which is why billionaire owned media won't talk about it and try make it seem like Pete, Cumo, and Jeffries are the only ones doing anything, even they they haven't and won't do shit.

People need to pay attention to this shit.

Thanks, I was wondering why the portfolio went up 10x, but didn't notice the name was why

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

I don't think you understand what the DNC is supposed to do then...

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

Only exception I got is global warming. We’ve never played this particular game before

I mean...

Anatomically modern humans have been around, what, 300k years?

Like you could grab someone from back then as an infant, raise them today, and they'd just be a regular dude.

The last ice age ended about 50k years ago, and that's why we say civilization was finally able to start. But that ignores that humans went thru the same ice age cycle 4-5 times in those 300k years.

If all it took was "no ice age" then logically the chances of the first civilization being 50k years ago is pretty much zero.

Climate change is like the inevitable reset for humanity. We're making it happen fast this time, but we can't really be sure that's unique either. It doesn't even take us, just a supervolcanoe or asteroid.

Bright side is it makes it more likely humanity as a species makes it thru the next one. I think evidence shows we've been down to like 1,000 humans world wide 70k years ago? Maybe as little as 50 adults of reproductive age?

But we're 8 something billion now.

Nah, because there's no way to really wash money doing that.

That's just insurance fraud lol.

What I meant was, even before the washer takes a cut, it costs money to wash it. Maybe 30% gets lost in the wash, then 10% for the washer, you get 60% back and that's good enough.

With trump, you pay him 100k dirty money, he gives you back 120k in clean money, and is happy because you said he was the best.

Like, sure, sounds to dumb to be true. But remember we're talking about how to bankrupt a corrupt casino. The answer is going to sound incredibly stupid, it's have to be

but wears into a malfunction queen

Because most were 30 years old at the time...

Beretta offered up a new model that met every demand for the new contract. But we're denied because top brass wanted "modern" and that meant it had to look like a concealed carry despite that making zero sense.

If I'm remembering right, they even used old random Beretta for the baseline instead of new produced straight from factory line Berrertta.

It wasn't a fair contract, that's not a secret

Like, sure, I can CCW a full size Beretta and not print. But there is zero reason for a service pistol to need to do that. It's not spending all day tuck next your balls. It's hanging a couple inches off your body around thigh height.

There are tons of examples of someone having to draw and fire in a split second without time to retreat and chamber. This is a settled issue.

And at least 10x more where someone NDs and gets shot...

Complacency is primarily why NDs happen

Exactly.

How much time have you spent in military bases standing watch?

Literally no one is more complacent then someone sitting stateside for 12hrs straight with a gun. It just stops being a thing and you will get complacent.

Even when they have to be ridiculously over dressed with plates, helmets, and ARs. It's normalized and you just stop giving any fucks.

why you should carry with an empty chamber.

You should open carry with an external hammer, double stage trigger, round chamber, safety on.

Condition 1.5ish.

Completely safe in a holster and able to be drawn and fired as fast as a striker fired gun that is way more likely to negligently discharge.

People carrying without one in the chamber is what people dumb enough to have bought a CCW without a safety should do.

Because about 99.999% of people who CCW will never have to actually draw a gun.

But we're having two different conversations at once, CCW by a civilian and open by the military.

Nah, not really.

It's everyone here, if you're an American either they have your money or you owe them money.

But chances are, you're still tied up with them somehow

Also, apparently my estimate was behind, in 2024 they were over 11 trillion.

They buy up billion dollar corporations as speculative investing. In the cyberpunk future, Blackstone will be one of the last one standing.

Even the next part:

world’s richest man does a Nazi salute at a political rally,

Don't get me wrong, horrible and completely unacceptable.

But sure as shit is nowhere near the line of what's happened with the last 100 years:

The Business Plot, also called the Wall Street Putsch[1] and the White House Putsch, was a political conspiracy in 1933 in the United States to overthrow the government of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and install Smedley Butler as dictator.[2][3] Butler, a retired Marine Corps major general, testified under oath that wealthy businessmen were plotting to create a fascist veterans' organization with him as its leader and use it in a coup d'état to overthrow Roosevelt. In 1934, Butler testified under oath before the United States House of Representatives Special Committee on Un-American Activities (the "McCormack–Dickstein Committee") on these revelations.[4] Although no one was prosecuted, the congressional committee final report said, "there is no question that these attempts were discussed, were planned, and might have been placed in execution when and if the financial backers deemed it expedient."

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_Plot

In case anyone's eyes glazed over instead of reading, two key points:

wealthy businessmen were plotting to create a fascist veterans' organization with him as its leader and use it in a coup d'état to overthrow Roosevelt.

And even more importantly:

Although no one was prosecuted, the congressional committee final report said, "there is no question that these attempts were discussed, were planned, and might have been placed in execution when and if the financial backers deemed it expedient."

Shit didn't just get bad, it's been bad.

And the way to fight it is an opposition party like FDR.

Under the new State Partnership Program (SPP) agreement, each state party will receive a baseline of $17,500 a month, a $5,000 per month increase over the last agreement, and Republican-controlled states will receive an additional investment of $5,000 a month through the DNC’s Red State Fund, putting their total at $22,500 every month. The combined investments total a monthly transfer of more than $1 million from the DNC to state parties – the committee’s largest investment into Democratic state parties in history.

But more importantly than that, the end of the victory fund.

Something I just found out about that, it went bankrupt after his dad bought 300,000,000 in chips with no intention of cashing them out.

Even if it was a mob front, especially if it was a mob front, that's just fucking insane. Being a front means a guaranteed profit for the business.

Like, honestly trump has to be the best money launderer to ever live, because he got his 'clients' money washed with over a 100% return.

And every indication, trump is dumb enough to think that's a good thing.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

You'll die eventually anyways and everything indicates there is nothing after we die.

We experience an incredibly tiny slice of time and there is zero reason not to find something to appreciate and work towards no matter how bad it gets.

Like, even if we die and it ends up just being us taking off the headset of an Nintendo 2048, you started this game for a reason, play till the end. But most likely this is all we get, so don't waste it.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 77 points 5 hours ago (10 children)

It's worse than that, a 15% on completed product, you still make the same amount of money selling, and when buying the parts. Only the consumer feels it.

Build here and you pay the costs, you're putting the money up front and don't know if consumers will even bother buying at the higher prices you have to charge to make up for material tarrifa.

You'd have to be an absolute idiot to exapnd American manufacturing right now, especially knowing anything can change daily...

They keep playing that clip of his caddy dropping a ball, and making fun of how he tried to do it slyly but it was obvious.

I just saw it again on Colbert, and I legitimately think the caddy is only trying to fool trump.

trump is 100% the guy to blame caddies if he fucks up, so the only caddies he likes are ones that can trick him into thinking he's great. No one he's playing with would ever call it out.

The only person they need to fool out there, is trump...

He legitimately might think he's really a generational golfer. For the same reason every billionaire legit thinks they're a genius.

Answer: lead. It's still lead and it's still fucking us all up.

Not just Americans, in all likelihood every single person reading this has been effected by lead. It's gonna take a very very long time before the effects become negligible.

Haven't watched it all yet because it's over 3 hours...

But Andrew is a really great interviewer, and like it or not Hunter was heavily involved in the last administration.

If mods feel this isn't political I can post it to /videos instead.

Justin Mohn reportedly described a struggle between himself and Michael Mohn when the younger man told his father that he was placing him under a "citizen's arrest."

According to the AP's reporting, Justin Mohn stated that his father told him he would kill him before he allowed him to do that, and a struggle ensued. Justin Mohn told the court, "Unfortunately, he resisted. I was hoping to perform a citizen's arrest on my father for, ultimately, treason."

Local news outlet WFMZ reported that Justin Mohn stated that he believed killing his father was legal under Pennsylvania law because he was defending himself while his father was resisting arrest.

From 4/24/25, but hadn't heard about it:

Today, DNC Chair Ken Martin and ASDC President Jane Kleeb announced a historic “organize everywhere, win anywhere” strategy – a new four-year agreement to deliver more resources into Democratic state and territory parties than ever before – delivering on Chair Martin’s commitment to turbocharging investments in on-the-ground organizing and party building. Video on how depression isnt always a personal problem. Sometimes it's a rational response to the resource scarce reality we live in

“Since the public can’t see or hear what’s happening in federal court firsthand, we’re using cutting-edge AI tools to bring these important proceedings to life, based entirely on official transcripts,” said Law&Crime President Rachel Stockman. “This is a pivotal moment in both popular culture and justice, and our goal is to provide accurate, transparent access to what’s actually being said in that courtroom.”

There's two "full time" Lemmy developers, and one of them just added a repeating dialog box that will pop up regardless of instance asking for money to be sent to his and another lemmy.ml admin's personal accounts as a salary.
