Having used my helmet multiple times it’s fairly obvious to me they actually performa a useful function. As far as I’m concerned the only controversy is whether they should mandatory or not (and I don’t think they should). But otherwise, if you choose to wear one I think you ARE doing yourself a favor wearing one.

I mean, that seems relatively obvious to me (best actor and actress being separate categories that is), and I bet they’re trying to stir up shit from a really simple statement she made? Quite possibly they also stoop to hand-wringing about “whatever category should we put a transgender person in?” too.

I refuse to read the article and give them clicks though.

It is always hilarious and strange to see the buy-in on these things. We have a single coder in his late 60s that has bought in hard to spicy autocorrect. Meanwhile, the youngest on our team (like 22) won’t touch it with a 10 ft pole.

The other issue is just the morality of it. Do I know people that got rich on Bitcoin? Yes. Do I feel like they’re participating in a pyramid scheme still? Also yes. And with spicy autocorrect, where they got their training data for any and all of these models is so freaking morally bankrupt, and they’re desperate to paper over that and make it “ok” for businesses to use it.

Had to click through to change my downvote to an upvote, lol.

Literally all we need is everyone to kick in a couple bucks a month and I think everything would be in great shape. I think the user base is like 65k+ users currently?

They need to get the fuck rid of that executive. Whoever has been running FF the last couple years has done a terrible job in picking directions for them to go, IMHO.

LOL, just another reason to avoid buying from Amazon, really.

Some of the new rally content is really fun (and tough!).

Or cmd-tab if you're coming from a different app. Also, when you're in cmd-tab mode you can do things like cmd-Q on the currently selected app to quit it. There's a lot of deep little hidden tricks in the GUI. Just takes a while to figure them out and become a power user. I also recommend if you have a multi-button mouse to bind some of the buttons to Show Desktop and Show All Windows (under the Desktop and Dock "Shortcuts" button at the very bottom).

I own but I got in the game back at the end of the 90s and paid my house off in like 10 years. Have never bothered to move even though it's only like 1000 sq ft. Gradually adding crap onto it though, so now it does have AC and about to have solar, lol.

Yeah, I'm still in AZ, thus my question, haha.

Ah, cool! Well AC pretty much solves my hesitations here in AZ, lol. But I know a lot of northern states still might want AWD as an option.

With thanks to u/SalsaVerdeAsada on r/Tucson… seemed useful enough to post over here too.

My apologies to the Bugzilla team for wasting their time holding my hand on this one. Would have honestly never noticed the little "HTML5" info icon to the left of the URL bar though without their help.

For me, best of 2023 was Red Team Blues by Cory Doctorow. A retirement-age forensic accountant traveling around in an ex-rock star bus from Walmart parking lot to next gourmet dining location does a job for a billionaire and suddenly ends up in a surprising amount of hot water over it. Hijinks ensue.

Runner-up goes to Venomous Lumpsucker by Ned Beauman. This is some bleak, bleak humor. Instead of carbon credits, Beauman posits extinction credits. Got a big strip mining operation coming up that will kill off a couple species? Better buy some extinction credits to cover their death! (And remember, it takes more credits to cover for a dead intelligent species, so factor that in!) Next extinction candidate: the Venomous Lumpsucker, but don't make it extinct until you've got all your paperwork done. Researcher and extinction credit manager for a mining company end up in a desperate chase around the planet trying to ascertain if the last of the Lumpsuckers are truly gone or not, and we go along for the ride.

Not sure if it's in RSF RBR yet or not, but hopefully soon?

Not my video, but looks like a ton of fun! Should mention the rally driving starts about 4 minutes in. He goes over some of the main patch notes for 1.4 prior to that.

Anyone have an idea why the Previous button would be missing from all pages? I can click Next and it seems to navigate me forward, but there is not Previous button to go back a page. Checked lemmy.world just to verify it wasn't my imagination and indeed the Previous button is still there.

Things I've tried so far that haven't worked:

  • Disable uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger and TamperMonkey for lemmy.ml
  • Load website in default Safari and Edge
  • Try a few different themes to make sure it wasn't something with the theme I was using

(And in Space Black even!)
