You cant drive or catch a train to everywhere, but it's still in the united states. That's the categorization in discussion

You do know Hawaii is part of the united states, correct?

Pretend to be your friend? They were just taking your order. Why do you care if they are sitting or standing while they do?

US soil is a completely different thing than the geographic US

This is not an embassy. There is a separate, standalone, treaty with the UN giving them that land.

Oh then are you suggesting we should get rid of all the other things from the last 120 years like aluminum bats, cleats, safety bags, helmets, instant replays, etc?

Chess needed rule changes for hundreds of years. And ABS isn't even a rule change, it's just playing by the same rules more accurately. I don't understand why baseball fans are modern day luddites

Nothing in the rules of baseball says umps are allowed to make their own zones. They are instead saying they want to play a different made up game

The police shoving the meter right into the speaker shows how whack this is. Measurement of sound varies a ton, and if they just stood back they wouldn't be "injured" by a 90db speaker

[–] hyperhopper@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago (5 children)

The crazy part is that we have a system to call the pitches perfectly, they admit that umps are wrong 6% of the time, and they are still doing this halfway nonsense instead of just calling the pitches correctly instead of letting umps continue to be wrong

"hot" and "active" are not simple post attributes. It's a weighted algorithm that takes into account many things like score, time, how fast the score is changing, upvote percentages, etc.

It's not a personalized feed, but it's farm from simple or objective. Look at how many people complain about reddits many different sorting algorithms

"No algorithms"??

What do you think "Hot" is? What do you think "active" is? There is some ranking algorithm that picks what to show. If you want to be pedantic, even "top" or "new" are algorithms.
