So I can either have a serious, life altering injury, or gain some knowledge that shapes others’ perspectives?

I don’t have to agree with them, but I can understand them a little better and also be able to walk. I don’t think this one’s a tricky decision.

Covid era restaurant menus. They were nice and fringe before that.

I like browsing the repository at https://www.linuxserver.io/ from time to time. Since they only make docker images for popular projects, it’s a good way to see a more curated list of what people are using instead of getting lost in giant lists of open source projects.

I think you’d get your answer by looking into how that works with motorcycles, since that’s a better analogy than cars.

What safety standards are you thinking of? Vehicle maintenance? Proof of competence to operate it? Following laws while moving?

The easy answer to it is probably “because enforcing cyclists is hard and doesn’t pay for itself in fines.”

I drive and cycle.

When I’m riding my bike and break traffic rules, I’m a suicidal idiot.

When I’m driving my car and break traffic rules, I’m a dangerous menace to others.

Drivers don’t get to clutch pearls when their actions directly cause death and injury to others. A cyclist riding like an idiot is like a motorcyclist without a helmet - the vast majority of the danger is on themselves.

We’re not sending our best.

I’ve had several friends and family who got into this state and took a few months or years to decide what they wanted.

Of them, most were just taking a break from the emotional labour of dating, which I totally get. Some went back to online dating but others didn’t intentionally look for a relationship until something fell in their lap (a new coworker, etc).

Some just never dated again. I know a couple people in their 60s/70s who had just had enough and were perfectly happy to live alone.

IMO there’s nothing wrong with taking this approach, and I think the best way to go in is to just say “I’m not dating right now”. Don’t say never again and don’t set an artificial timer when you need to jump back in.

Things often work out if you don’t try to force yourself into doing or not doing something. Read how you’re feeling in the moment and go from that. It removes so much of the pressure on yourself to do or think certain things.

I was taught this in driving school. If you’re the last car slowing down, leave a gap of a few car lengths so if a car behind you is going to hit you, it gives you some room to escape either to move up, or enough room to turn out of the lane.

That sounds like some kind of superhero fantasy to me. In what scenario am I about to be rear ended and have enough time to move my car safely?

I usually leave enough space that I could turn into another lane without having to reverse, so if the car in front of me stalls I can go around without too much fuss. That’s like half a car length at best.

My domain is still set to a former address of mine and I never bothered to update it fifteen years later.

You could provide an address for your registration… sometimes people make typos.

If there’s truly an audit or verification it’ll be easier to explain a typo than why you said you live at “123 Eat Shit Ave”.

YSK there's an app called CNV CityFix you can install on your smartphone that allows you to review and report issues in your area that the city should address.

Every once in a while I'll see some egregious graffiti, dumped trash, tree debris blocking a path, etc. More often than not, someone has already reported the issue in the app and the City is aware of it and adds it to their list. Within a few days (or less), a crew with the right equipment comes out and addresses it.

Being able to snap a photo and send the location to the city to put it on their radar is great for both parties. The city gets quality reports about issues quickly, and residents have a low effort way to get them dealt with.

You can also search for reported issues nearby, and there's often laughs to be had at people's descriptions of their perceived problems, or particularly witty ways people describe legitimate issues.
