I don't understand your comment. They are the good guys browser-wise but that doesn't mean they are good guys everywhere.

I wrote some insults and it worked.

Pretty sure my insults will be used to train a model as well

Hum, I'm French living in France and my son is only allowed to watch shows if they are in English. Is he going to be bullied?

I know it's a joke, I hate to be that guy. But this meme feels old and obsolete now. I can't remember the last time I had to tweak my Linux. The fun is gone

I don't understand the simpler argument. Installing and using extensions and gnome-tweaks to change basic settings is not simpler. And I strongly dislike a large number of defaults.

With KDE Plasma, defaults make more sense to me so I barely have to change configuration. If I really need to, the setting is there and easily used.

I'm pretty sure Apple is missing a significant market share of consumers like myself who can't stand their anti-competitive practices. That's why I can only buy Android phones and tablets, until we get decent Linux ones.

The last stat I've seen in Paris is that if you were to bike to work every day on a 9 to 5 job, then you will encounter rain 17 times per year in average. When that happens, as others said, you can just accept being wet and/or dress appropriately, or take public transport.

We'll see the year of the Linux desktop before seeing justice for him.

VLC is still on Twitter? I thought they would be quick to migrate to Mastodon, slightly disappointed.

And thanks OP for linking outside of Twitter.

As much as I understand your opinion, I'm really struggling to understand how couples meet outside of apps now. I've been in a long-term monogamous relationship for more than 20 years, I'm completely out of the loop.

Good afternoon! Newbie here, I've tried to install Lemmy using Ansible (Debian stable) and I ended up having an issue with the Postgresql connectivity (localhost via socket).

The error message I have is:

thread 'main' panicked at 'Error connecting to postgresql:///lemmy?user=lemmy&host=/var/run/postgresql: connection to server on socket "/var/run/postgresql/.s.PGSQL.5432" failed: No such file or directory

I have updated my /etc/postgresql/15/main/pg_hba.conf from peer to trust to md5 with no success (rebooting Postresql each time).

My config.hjson is:

database: {
 uri: "postgresql:///lemmy?user=lemmy&host=/var/run/postgresql"
 password: "{{ postgres\_password }}"
}

Any idea / suggestion? Thanks!

PS: cross-posted on the Matrix.org install support chat

Having a rock-solid Debian stable as a desktop with up-to-date softwares when it matters. It sounded impossible a few years ago but that might be achievable now with Flatpak. That's awesome.
