The use of Limewire in this context seems to be more of an interesting news novelty.

That being said, in any democratic leaning country that truly values freedom (in the real sense, not the polemical American sense), the distribution of such media would not be an issue and you wouldn't have to resort to Limewire, a torrent would suffice or even another broadcast TV network would air with violation of copyright.

Redditor jokes LimeWire is now a "champion against the darkness."

What are you referring to?

Pretty slow move. 2029 is nearly 25 years since YT founding (and streaming existed around ~10 years before that; remember RealPlayer?).

I am surprised I've never heard of this movie, sounds pretty cool! Cheers!

Re-watched The Usual Suspects, the initial setup with five criminals getting connected during a police crackdown is compelling (it turns out the movie was developed based on the initial scene in the poster with the line up). The acting is also strong with Gabriel Byrne, Benicio Del Toro and even Stephen Baldwin doing a great job. Chazz Palminteri plays to his typecast, but it works well.

I also personally appreciate the 90s cinematography, scene design and the score.

I have to say the main hook and ending seem very contrived (much more so when I first watched the movie in the early 2000s). It does not seem convincing, well connected criminals usually have state backing rather than being a "ghost". And a senior criminal would not directly involve themselves in an assassination attempt or risk third parties acting in an independent manner. The behaviour of the police was also unconvincing.

Spacey's presence also taints the movie in a way that it did not on the initial viewing.

That being said, it's a solid 6/10 action packed, crime thriller. You could do a lot worse.

You can stream popular torrents. It can be challenging with more niche content (unless you're on private trackers), but you're not going to find niche content streams in the first place.

For me personally, the OG pirating was buying bootleg VHSs/CDs/DVDs. But torrenting/P2P was the first mass scale digital piracy method.

It's still somewhat big in certain regions, even younger people torrent (although streaming piracy is more popular).

Watched this last night, while it has its flaws, I liked that the story wasn't as clear cut as most found footage horror. The core concept, while not novel for found footage was well done. The early parts of the film were really creepy.

The acting work for the female lead was very distracting.

Man Finds Tape is a fairly interesting and well done film, especially for a directorial debut.
