Same. Firefox Mobile had been a laggy mess when I used it a few years ago, but a combination of some really aggressive advertising and the announcement of manifest v3 caused me to give it another shot about a year ago. It's a dramatic improvement in phone browsing.

The more I've thought about it the more I think Pete really is one of the safer candidates in that list. He's already been vetted at the national level from the 2020 cycle. He's wicked smart, is a great debater, and from the people who have seen him speak gets people excited. He has a national presence already and doesn't require giving up a governorship or senate seat.

He won the Iowa caucus in 2020 but because of their whole glitch thing it wasn't official until days later. Should bring some good Midwest support too being from Indiana and presently living in Michigan.

If it worked that way in the US then that would be sensibly pro-worker while allowing the existing employer to defend their intellectual property and investments in employees.

The reality is I have a 2 year noncompete that simply prevents me from working for competitors within 50 miles of any of my job sites unless I want to open myself up to a lawsuit. If I left today, I'd have to travel way further to get to an acceptable location, but would certainly not be receiving any compensation for that hassle from my previous employer. The elimination of noncompetes would be a huge boon to me and my colleagues, but this sort of court shenanigans is why I said I'd wait to be excited until it actually took effect.

Lots of good advice here. I've got a bunch of older WD Reds still in service (from before the SMR BS). I've also had good luck shucking drives from external enclosures as well as decommissioned enterprise drives. If you go that route, depending on your enclosure or power supply in these scenarios you may run into issues with a live 3.3V SATA power pin causing drives to reboot. I've never had this issue on mine but it can be fixed with a little kapton tape or a modified SATA adapter. It's definitely cheaper to shuck or get used enterprise for capacity! I'm running at least a dozen shucked drives right now and they've been great for my needs.

Also, if you start reaching the point of going beyond the ports available on your motherboard, do yourself a favor and get a quality HBA card flashed in IT mode to connect your drives. The cheapo 4 port cards I originally tried would have random dropouts in Unraid from time to time. Once I got a good HBA it's been smooth sailing. It needs to be in IT mode to prevent hardware raid from kicking in so that Unraid can see the individual identifiers of the disks. You can flash it yourself or use an eBay seller like ThArtOfServer who will preflash them to IT mode.

Finally, be aware that expanding your array is a slippery slope. You start with 3 or 4 drives and next thing you know you have a rack and 15+ drive array.

Happens all the time with patients I see on disability or Medicaid. I had a patient tell me last week about how his social security disability income is tight and we "need Trump back to fix things." Yeah okay, good luck with that buddy.

Perfect analogy. I completely shill for both Bitwarden and Brother printers because they legit are just that good. When I find products like that they're what I push to my family and friends because they "just work."

A Comma 3 to run Openpilot on my Honda Civic. It's lane keep / adaptive cruise control on steroids. I drive about 40 thousand miles each year for work, 46 miles round trip on "local" days. Having that level of driver assist on the highway makes a life changing difference. I arrive less fatigued and feel more capable of reacting to hazards. Their tagline is making driving chill, and it really has delivered. I don't know how I did this mileage before Openpilot.

A bunch of companies seem to be implementing that version (not being able to paste the 6 digits). It's just asinine and makes me think less of any product / company using that style.

Prosthetics. Costs are always blown way out of proportion because the media looks at just the device and ignores the professional expertise and custom fabrication work that goes into the devices. They also all like to hype that arms are "mind controlled" when they're all using different variations of the same myoelectric technology that's been around for years. There have certainly been dramatic advances as a result of better battery technology and 3D printing improvements to rapid prototyping, but what the media presents is typically very out of touch with reality. It's even worse when you go from news media to movies and TV shows that set completely unrealistic expectations for patients.

Agreed, it sucks. Essentially it boils down to them not controlling the source for the processor/chipset/drivers whereas Apple has vertically integrated where they developed their own chipsey with the Bionic and the M series. Google has moved that way with the Tensor chips seen on the Pixel 6+ but everything prior is using Qualcomm and reliant on them for chipset support. Qualcomm unfortunately only promises 3 years of support.

With Tensor Google is promising at least 3 years of version updates and 5 years of security updates. Time will tell how that promise works out.

They're coming as part of the new Find My Device network. The launch has been delayed until Apple releases their portion of the joint anti-tracking effort.
