I’ve had 3 batteries replaced in three separate phones. The closest thing to an “issue” is they broke 2 of the phones, sounds bad right?! But wait, there’s more. Since it’s the phone manufacturer and quite obviously their fault they replaced them with brand new phones of the same model. No more scratches and such. Just had to restore them from backup.

Also had a brand new phone start doing weird shit. I took a video of it doing the weirdness and went into the store. They couldn’t fault it or replicate it in any way. Still replaced because I had proof and the dude was super chill about it.

Obviously, not everyone is going to receive the same service or see having a complete new phone over a replacement battery as a positive but from my experience I can’t fault Apples service so far.

Yes, though not to the extreme.

Shaggy looking like he should be watching Better Homes and gardens while crocheting a blanket.

And I relate.

Wake me up when I can sync them to Nextcloud/Immich.

I’ve been giving Immich another go recently but I think it just tried to prune almost 900 photos from my photo library which keeps me very hesitant to keep using it.

This would unironically appeal to me. I’m not spending huge dollars on a MacBook for a glorified terminal/browser machine. Not saying they’re bad, just that my use case doesn’t require that much horsepower.

For more strenuous tasks I have a full tower PC that’s decked out but having something sleek for on the go that works with the rest of my portable items (AirPods, iPhone etc) would be nice.

Tits, self relief and death? That’s one more thing than I’m guaranteed at the moment, where do I sign up?

My car has an electronic dash and one of the only benefits is displaying information such as GPS turn info in the centre of the dash cluster. The down side is that it only works with the built in GPS guidance which is almost always out of date. So even though it’s inconvenient I still default to using CarPlay and having guidance in the infotainment screen instead.

So I could see that as a useful feature if it’s opt-in. Ask the first time “would you like to see promotion for venues of purchase” or something.

But the random promotional notifications, like the F1 thing, can flog off.

What came first; moths or lamps?

[iPhone 15 PM] Has anyone else been having issues with alarms only sounding for a moment? I’ve caught mine a couple of times where it goes off for about a second and then stops completely. Makes waking up for work a bit sketchy!

Whilst the keys weren’t visible in the UI they could still be interacted with and worked normally.

I’ve submitted feedback.

This only appeared for a second before returning to the date but it looks like time to charge will be displayed on the Lock Screen.

Hopefully it can be set to stay in-place.

Backup plan

I know when things first kicked off we would get server updates semi-regularly such as finances and server load. I can’t say I’ve seen one for a while, just wondering how things are going?

Looks like cycle count, manufacture date and first use date are all new. I wonder if the information will be accurate for aftermarket batteries?

I have accounts on two instances and couldn’t figure out why the feed was semi-broken and running out of posts on one. Since then the second instance posted about updating to 19.0 from 18.5, after the update I’m having the same issues as I did with the first server. I’m assuming they made the shift to 19.0 earlier. Seems to work in the respective PWA’s, but not in Mlem.

I’ve logged out and back in with the first affected account without any change and cleared the app cache.

Mlem V1.1.1 iPhone 15PM iOS 17.2

I recently updated to a 15PM from a 12PM and as such am new to always on display (AoD). I’ve found that the first touch after waking from AoD on the Lock Screen registers at first and then is ignored/reversed. Is this normal behaviour that’s seen in all AoD iPhones or something related to my specific phone?

Edit: so I think I’ve found part of the issue. As the screen wakes there’s a short transition animation, if I wait for that to complete plus 1 second or so then it works as intended. If I interact mid-animation then it’ll either not register the input or cancel the input at the end of the animation.

I’ve found the touchscreen sometimes doesn’t register, especially the backspace button on the keyboard for some reason.

I’m considering putting in a report to Apple but don’t want to until I know whether it’s just me or a broader phenomenon.

After updating to V1.1 the grey fill on the vote indicator on compact comments stopped working.

It highlights a bit of an issue that I’ve had since switching to Mlem; I’d love if that upvote icon fill was colour coded the same as an up/downvote. Previously it was just grey which is ok but having it colour coded would visually function better imo.

This is on an iPhone 15PM iOS 17.0.3.

Hi Lemmings, Has anyone here self hosted a SimpleLogin instance? Would you recommend it compared to paying for their service?

I’m looking at starting a test instance of it in the future but I’m curious how well it handles multiple user accounts and multiple domains or whether I need an instance per-user or per-domain.
