Point taken but, and hear me out here, what if he busted out a ukulele and did the apology in song?

Definitely would be a positive outcome.

I have a workmate who loves to act dumb. We’ve decided fish aren’t animals, they are indeed fish, we’ve also decided jellyfish are crustaceans.

Do we have to decide to share the Nobel prize or does a committee decide that for us?

My parents: “People in our days were men or women, no in between.”

Also my parents: “Yeah, Joe Bloggs, the guy who’s worn womens clothes and accessories for 40 years.”

Pick a lane, do they not exist or have existed for decades?!

I can’t believe you’d link to the radical left wing woke Fakepedia instead of the fact based Grokpedia. /S

Stoat made a small mention in their name change blog that there’s a big update in the pipeline to bring in voice chat and screen sharing, two of the fundamental functions used by every Discord user that I know. If Stoat manages to bring those two features in at a similar parity to Discord then it’ll be a legitimate candidate for a Discord replacement.

Unfortunately, from my research most other platforms either don’t have voice and screen share at all or they do but it’s implemented in a way that’s far from optimal.

The micro-hydrogen Avifuel Cells™ they run on are super expensive.

Could literally be me but 10 years instead of 15. I hope you’re doing so much better now and that many positive things come your way.

No idea what you’re talking about.

They’re referring to an old controversy that was a mixture of bad decisions and conspiracy. They’ve now linked an article to the outcome of it. I won’t cover the whole thing but Apple “let slip” and “admitted” to slowing down old phones. This obviously feeds into the planned obsolescence conspiracies but at the time it wasn’t exactly hidden, Apple (one of their higher ups though I can’t think of who) said they were doing it.

The real issue was that it was implemented without transparency. The point is the device underclocks to prevent unexpected shut downs which makes it slower as a trade off for stability. Devices still do this, but it’s now shown in the settings and warns that the battery needs replacing.

The speed with which Mlem introduced the iOS 26 theming was very impressive and very well done!

It’s apps like Mlem that make browsing Lemmy a joy to me.

[iPhone 15 PM] Has anyone else been having issues with alarms only sounding for a moment? I’ve caught mine a couple of times where it goes off for about a second and then stops completely. Makes waking up for work a bit sketchy!

Whilst the keys weren’t visible in the UI they could still be interacted with and worked normally.

I’ve submitted feedback.

This only appeared for a second before returning to the date but it looks like time to charge will be displayed on the Lock Screen.

Hopefully it can be set to stay in-place.

I know when things first kicked off we would get server updates semi-regularly such as finances and server load. I can’t say I’ve seen one for a while, just wondering how things are going?

Looks like cycle count, manufacture date and first use date are all new. I wonder if the information will be accurate for aftermarket batteries?

I have accounts on two instances and couldn’t figure out why the feed was semi-broken and running out of posts on one. Since then the second instance posted about updating to 19.0 from 18.5, after the update I’m having the same issues as I did with the first server. I’m assuming they made the shift to 19.0 earlier. Seems to work in the respective PWA’s, but not in Mlem.

I’ve logged out and back in with the first affected account without any change and cleared the app cache.

Mlem V1.1.1 iPhone 15PM iOS 17.2

I recently updated to a 15PM from a 12PM and as such am new to always on display (AoD). I’ve found that the first touch after waking from AoD on the Lock Screen registers at first and then is ignored/reversed. Is this normal behaviour that’s seen in all AoD iPhones or something related to my specific phone?

Edit: so I think I’ve found part of the issue. As the screen wakes there’s a short transition animation, if I wait for that to complete plus 1 second or so then it works as intended. If I interact mid-animation then it’ll either not register the input or cancel the input at the end of the animation.

I’ve found the touchscreen sometimes doesn’t register, especially the backspace button on the keyboard for some reason.

I’m considering putting in a report to Apple but don’t want to until I know whether it’s just me or a broader phenomenon.

After updating to V1.1 the grey fill on the vote indicator on compact comments stopped working.

It highlights a bit of an issue that I’ve had since switching to Mlem; I’d love if that upvote icon fill was colour coded the same as an up/downvote. Previously it was just grey which is ok but having it colour coded would visually function better imo.

This is on an iPhone 15PM iOS 17.0.3.

Hi Lemmings, Has anyone here self hosted a SimpleLogin instance? Would you recommend it compared to paying for their service?

I’m looking at starting a test instance of it in the future but I’m curious how well it handles multiple user accounts and multiple domains or whether I need an instance per-user or per-domain.
