There are multiple cities in the Gaza Strip, the largest being Gaza City. They can leave Gaza City to another city in Palestinian territory but can't cross the border into Israel/Egypt.

They've been pushed to evacuate to shelters further south from Gaza, which is kind of the only option aside from Egypt opening up. Given that this is all caused by Palestinian terrorists entering Israel, I don't think anyone can blame them for not opening up their border to let more in

And obviously there's plenty of innocent civilians who could be admitted no problem, but Hamas is still the governing party with majority support and would undeniably use that as an opportunity to sneak more militants in

Well if they were taking photos with a flag I guess the logical conclusion is to start shooting

They seized control later on, but Hamas was elected in 2006. Still though, of course there's plenty of Palestinians who don't support Hamas

The idea of this being some sort of trap/tripwire for Hamas is bizarre. It's pretty damn easy to not fire on US warships, and doing so might be the biggest strategic blunder you could make

Regardless it's also a hotbed of conflict that could easily start spiraling into the rest of the region. A carrier group just offshore can keep an eye on the situation and make sure Iran doesn't get any crazy ideas

It's a deterrent for Iran or other countries that might think they can hop in while Israel is weak

It might disrupt US focus a little, but Israel's military really doesn't need help on this. Israel is heavily militarized with a very advanced domestic defense industry. And as much as Russia has flopped, they're still a former superpower while Hamas is DIYing half their equipment

Point me to where Ukrainian soldiers passed the border and shot up a festival full of civilians

They tried to pray at a mosque? Better shoot up a music festival

Because there's another esteemed character actress named Margo, we have to avoid confusion

Yeah my American brain has trouble comprehending a system where cronyism isn't possible. Here most unions have an associated PAC and are very active with political donations and lobbying
