I don't think anything of the sort. I found that I didn't enjoy my time on the platform so I don't use it anymore. That simple evaluation had more to do with my decision to stop using it than any moral issues I could cite, of which there are many.

I wish I could go back to a time when I thought people could be swayed by logic and reason, especially in politics. I've seen too much to believe that any more.

I messed with the spectrum router my parents got a few months ago and that thing made me so mad. They intentionally locked the gui so that you had to call them to make any real changes. You even had to download their app to change the SSID and password. I wanted to throw it in the garbage so bad.

I think you have a good point but it gets pretty far into the semantics of language. Most people seem to use the term racist in casual language to refer specifically to what are widely considered the worst outcomes associated with grouping people together by race. The "black people are violent" kind of racism that I referred to earlier. However, I don't think there is anything about the academic definition of the word racist that would limit it to this kind of usage. I also get why you would want to avoid the conclusion that everyone is racist but I really believe that is the most accurate assessment of reality.

Granted, it is easy to see how your KKK kind of racist would want to latch on to this conclusion to minimize the horrible nature of their beliefs. Still, I don't think you can get a holistic view of the problem without recognizing the fact that this tendency to make generalizations about groups of people exists within us all. Without seeing the scope of the problem I don't think you can address it in any meaningful sense.

Yeah I get you. It's usually in the cable ISP context and the box is a modem / router combination. So not exactly comparable to low tier routers but they're not particularly fancy either. You get your coax cable in, five Cat-5 ports, and 2.4 / 5.8 GHz wireless depending on the model. I'm not familiar enough with them to be more specific than that.

I don't rent routers but it is a common offering. I don't know how many people do it though.

[-] krashmo@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Do most people rent the ISP provided router these days? I'm a network engineer so I would never ever do that but obviously not everyone wants to deal with it. I just assumed most people would buy their own since doing so would eliminate that $5/month and pays for itself pretty quickly.

Of course he is, and they're going to let him do it. If any of you still think the justice system is going to stop him then you haven't been paying attention. That ship sailed years ago.

If you wanna stop racism then stop buying from racist countries

OK, but which ones aren't racist?

It's pretty easy to be in the office and not working. Especially with all those different places to get lost. I really doubt that works out the way they want it to

As much as it pains me to say something that could be construed as defending Donald Trump, there's no way he knew about the vast majority of this stuff when he selected Vance as his running mate. Hell, I'd be surprised if he's paying much attention to it now. Narcissists of his caliber don't give a shit about anyone but themselves.

Speak for yourself cuck. My day starts with a 4:00 AM trip to McD's to get my body in prime condition for the gym. I'm lifting plates in both locales before you've regained consciousness and realized whatever you were dreaming about is going to be the best part of your day.

/s obviously but just in case

Can we add the option to exclude communities and/or posts that are in a different language than our chosen default? I'm guessing filtering communities would be easier than individual posts but I'm not sure how language would be flagged. I understand some people may want to see some of these posts but even multilingual people must be bombarded with posts in languages they don't speak. I'm getting pretty annoyed that half of my feed is stuff I can't read.

I've looked through the settings multiple times but I suppose it's still possible this already exists and I just missed it.
