Savings Hack Rule (slrpnk.net)

For the past year or so, I have been fairly happy with the RD, Torrentio, and Stremio setup. I've enjoyed being able to have a mostly seamless streaming experience; just search, click, and watch with little load or wait. In the past, I've experimented with the -arr's and qTorrent setup on a local machine, but I switched to RD for the convenience of being able to spontaneously watch a show or movie (like on a date night).

With the possible (maybe likely) end of RD, I have wanted to look back again at having a personal setup, but I want to see if anyone has recommendations for a setup that is as close as possible to the current one. I know, of course, that a local setup will not have the same benefit as a massive service as RD with a huge cache of torrents ready to go, but is there a way to get close? Round off some of the sharp edges and pain points?

Your ISP bans self hosting? I've never heard of that before.

For most personal projects, hosting on the cloud may be overkill, but tempting with its supposed ease of use and benefits of scale. Self-hosting is often overlooked as a solution with the benefit of simplicity and cost.

Interesting discussion and demonstration of self hosting the kinds of apps most personal projects will end being.

If you ever have (unfortunately) heard of his absolutely dogshit book, then his inability to understand deeper meanings, subtext, themes, and to grapple with a competent plot should not surprise you in the least. Robert Evans, Cody Johnston, and Katy Stoll read it through on Behind The Bastards in a few episodes. Imagine the novelization of a Steven Seagal movie adaption of a Jack Ryan plotline. Combine that with how ol Benny really wanted, and failed, to be a screenplay writer, and it makes sense his absolute hatred for modern Hollywood movies that don't say all the things he likes.

I'd be lying if I said this didn't actually move me with that same sense of helpless anger and sense of loss. Really powerful writing.

It is such a disappointment seeing the freedom and openness of the early promised internet turned to the personal rat cages and playpens of the rich, greedy, and powerful ... Just like everything else in the real world, unfortunately.

My love of Infinity is what pushed me off the Reddit train so I'd be pumped to have a Fedv equivalent!
