This is so much more impactful than the Reddit blackouts. I feel a great loss.

I’ve reached a weird sort of critical mass where steam sales no longer provide me with dopamine

A lot of controversial comments. Here are some of my observations:

  • Not a single mention of decentralised finance/DeFi in the comments, which is a game-changer.
  • A lot of outdated information or misunderstanding of recent developments in the industry
  • A large focus on scams and crypto bros, who are the loudest but definitely not the majority

On the readme, creator David Bures says to follow him on socials to get the roadmap of melm, but I have no idea which socials (mastodon feed is just has changelogs mixed with other stuff), and his personal site is not in English.

I'm looking for if I can:

  • List account notifications on post replies (so I can respond to them from my phone)
  • Creating posts

This is a pivotal moment in the Lemmyverse, and I'm not sure if this will be better overall or not.

It might be a fundamental flaw of federated servers, or just something that should be expected and welcomed.

I guess time will tell.

Just need an Apollo for Lemmy and I can move away

Beyond All Reason is AMAZING. I can't say enough about it. Its my favourite game, and totally annihilates (!) the competition.

Though I guess the competition is pretty small for large scale RTS. Maybe:

  • Total Annihilation
  • Supreme Commander
  • Ashes of the Singularity
  • Sins of the Solar Empire (sorta)

BAR has fixed all the UI/UX problem, scales well, has a big community, is free, fun, and super deep and complex.

People are so confused and overwhelmed about the fediverse mechanics though.

Maybe there is room for a product that is an aggregator for aggregators. Like, a centralised service that scrapes and collects all Lemmy instances into one super instance.

What's the alternative? You go full-banana decentralised or mega-site Reddit. I think Lemmy is a nice middle ground

Sorry guys, kbin is built on PHP.

So even if it did succeed, it won't be for long.

Honestly? I fucking love it.

Its SO fast (I have my own instance), and instead of subscribing to subreddits and one server, now I subscribe to communities and multiple instances.

The people are responsive.

Only problem is missing niche communities, and discoverability, but that will improve with time hopefully with something like multi-reddits.

Now we've entered a polyamorous relationship (multiple Lemmy instances)

It was really sad to go to my Reddit profile and see how long I've been using it.

To think that for over 13 years, I've been using Reddit daily and for MULTIPLE hours a day. It has probably caused untold amounts of impact on my growth as a person. Its like breaking up with a lifelong partner, what a strange feeling.

A weird side-effect of Lemmy being 1000x smaller than Reddit is that I lurk less and contribute more. So there's that!
