According to the Associated Press, the company that sold the lectern is Beckett Events, LLC. It’s an event planning company in Virginia founded by a former lobbyist.

They were advertising it on the Paradox launcher for a while on Cities Skylines and it seemed like kind of a large risk for Paradox but I don’t exactly know why I felt that way.

It seemed like too much advertising for a turn-based tactics game or something. I like turn-based tactics games but it’s certainty a niche genre.

Same, I’m always hopeful for another good racing game but I’ll even wait a while to install it with Game Pass, if I do.

I will say, as someone who used rTorrent some time ago to automate torrent downloading and whatnot, it was awesome. I’m glad to see it still going and gaining popularity.

Stable software doing its job out of the way is what I want.

This is a really interesting conversation! This is actually my favorite kind of art so I might also be able to help explain. Sorry if this is boring, I love modern art and have spent a decent amount of time in a modern art museum as a visitor!

It’s not about asking yourself how it makes you feel, but more recognizing that art makes you feel something whether you want it to or not.

The moment you see it and think “I don’t get it.” Or “that’s just smears on a wall,” you are already experiencing the art and feeling something. Even if it’s derision! Or disinterest! It may not be for you, but the trick is realizing you are still feeling something. I think it’s fun to wonder about what I feel or think about an artist’s intent. It adds depth to the art for me.

One of the main reasons I love art like this is that the artist is often really intentional and, in an unintuitive way, it’s reward looking at them more than once and in 3D. They have texture and oftentimes you can see very clear intent on the artist’s part. The size of the painting makes a difference, what’s around it, etc.

I also love art that requires more than surface level to understand it. If I’m like “why would someone like this?” it almost attracts me more. I learn what the artist is putting into the art, often emotionally and/or with a lot of thought, and that can make it more meaningful than people who are really good painters painting the Virgin Mary again, you know?

I could keep going, with examples, but I’ve written a lot. I love art, man.

I’m similar apparently, or at least liked learning. 2000s.

I was pretty unimpressed with the list, I never believed some of them (like the genome) and learned most of them were wrong by high school.

I started playing Monster Hunter Rise! I’ve played Monster Hunter: World before for a bit, so I understand something of how it works.

That didn’t stop me from trying to skip ahead in quests and getting pummeled a bunch of times though. Whoops!

I’m also finally trying to get a little further in American Truck Simulator. I’ve had it for a few years and have struggled to play consistently.

You may like BroForce, a run-and-gun game where you unlock different characters as you go. I had a really good time with coop!

I was curious too so I went on a bit of a journey trying to figure it out. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.

This is an arcade machine, so I think the “buy in” feature is when someone could enter a game already in progress? Not sure exactly about that but that’s all I can think of.

I’m pretty sure Dedicated U/R means “dedicated upright.” I saw some other games with similar descriptions elsewhere. Dedicated meaning the cabinet was specifically made for this game, I’m assuming (not a more generic one, I guess?).

Hoping someone with context can fill in more details!

Haha! I read it as twenty-firth

Yeah, I honestly had to Google it because it sounds like such pointless advice. In combat especially, how does “trusting the dice” help at all?

I think what they mean is “trust that the game will turn a lot of failing dice rolls into something interesting in a way a GM might.”
