Everyone I talked to knew that this was what was going to happen when Broadcom bought VMware. I work in a relatively agile industry so everyone starting moving away from VMware as soon as the sale was announced. But I know a lot industries will be stuck for awhile.
This sounds like it’s exactly what Broadcom intended. They are going to charge as much as they can and companies that depend on it will have to pay until they can move away and that may take years. Broadcom didn’t dig a hole. They triggered a trap on their customers.
Starship Troopers (the book), is only fascist if you assume that anyone that's pro-military is fascist.
In the book, the military is literally in the middle of genocide and killing unarmed families in civilian villages.
It’s been typical for qa and similar staff for a very long time. This article doesn’t specify what roles were cut so it’s hard to say if this is business as usual or not.
I stopped watching when it was blindingly obvious how they would let the then-dominant warriors build legitimate massive leads in the first quarter and then the refs would constantly penalize them for absolutely nothing until the 4th quarter to orchestrate a tight game before letting the warriors play again at the end. Then the warriors would be praised for being so good in the 4th.
I wasn’t a warriors fan. But the way the refs orchestrated pretty much every warriors game like it was a drama made it seem a lot more like WWE than a legitimate sport.
And god help you if you forget those 3 lines somewhere and you silently have database failures or something else.
They’re basically fashion victims.
My favorite is “Java is slow” said by someone advocating for a language that’s at least 10 times slower.
Robots and software doing people’s work for them should be humanity’s greatest achievement, but capitalism makes it a disaster and humanitarian crisis.
They stand for whatever the ruling elite that own both them and the conservative propaganda networks tell them to stand for.
