I’ve not used these types of games myself (other than Pokémon Go), but a friend used to play Zombies, Run! and now plays Run an Empire, instead, so that might be worth a look.

It’s been very stable for me and battery life seems improved. The only real issue I’ve noticed is in Safari where the search/url bar doesn’t always pop up with the keyboard, and vice versa.
