Why is something as vital if not more vital than US Mail left to scummy private companies?

We’re well into the 21st century. Many businesses will direct you to their website when you call in.

Having affordable internet access is not a luxury it’s a necessity.

It’s petty third world mindset to allow these rent seekers to continue to profit off of awful service. Especially when they actively seek to block municipalities from setting up their own ISPs.

I honestly would get one if I could afford it.

It is significantly more. I mean, it’s one of those things that isn’t that much more in the scheme of things, but when you’re scrambling to replace a roof, it’s a lot.

I paid $8k for a new roof a few years back. I got estimates. Metal would have been about twice as much.

Hard to justify when a decent shingle lasts 15-20 years.

Doesn’t film have a definition roughly equivalent to 2K?

Not sure why they didn’t just do a digital transfer to 2K.

You literally cannot imagine the doses of oxytocin and dopamine when your kid looks you in the eyes and smiles for the first time. All the wonderful moments are like a goddamn fix.

It’s literally the only reason (most) parents don’t murder their kids when they’re being shitty little assholes.

But seriously, you simply don’t realize how heady a hit of emotional bonding-feel good cocktail it is until it happens to you.

And this is coming from someone who spent half the 90s candy flipping.

This is what happens when science is done by governments and companies dedicated to the end result.

ITER and so many other projects are littered with graft and hampered by corruption and uninterested governments.

If China can build a reactor with a Q of 10, it’s game over. The west is already getting lapped on solar and EV’s.

We’re gonna be a backwater with a bunch of bombs. Buckle up y’all.

He should say F it and run as an independent.

They're going to run Hilary. Bet on it. Biden will drop out and Clinton will "step in".

For extra bonus, she'll choose someone like Kerry just to sweeten the deal. It will be peak Democratic party insanity.

Have you never gambled and lost with a fart?

Once or twice, I had diarrhea as an adult, and thought it was a fart, and wound up sharting.

Can't be that uncommon.

You know what reduces copyright infringement? Making content available, affordable and accessible.

In the golden days of Netflix, I hardly torrented anything.

Seconded.

It sure looked like a bunch of anti-union posts.

Do it once, it’s satire. Do it 20 times, it just looks like an endorsement.

The vote is performative.

At this point, you're voting for the window dressing.

  • Which bill was it where dems legalized gay marriage?

  • Which bill was it where they protected abortion rights?

  • Which bill was it where they protected the right to marry other races?

etc.

Basing your record on a few supreme court decisions, which can (and have) get overturned is fatuous.

Aside from taking a slightly less shitty stance on things, you'll find that for the most part, the dems, when they had full government control, did fuck all to enshrine minority rights, provide a living wage, or make steps towards universal healthcare.

I used to think like this, I'm 50 and voted like my life depended on it since '92. All I've seen since then, are conditions getting worse and worse, regardless of who was in office. I bought Obama's schtick and watched as he did half assed measures and frittered a majority away.

And by the way "b-b-but conservative democrats" line has been used as far back as I can remember. If you consistently see members of a party blocking vital legislation over and over and over again. Maybe that shit is performative too.

This country needs a reset.
