FriYay thread (lemmy.world)

Its Friday, we're nearly at the weekend.

Any good plans?

Thursday complaints (lemmy.world)

It's Thursday, one of the worst days of the week. Not yet the weekend, but we're already tired.

Come in and have a moan!

What games are you playing, Lemmy? Board, video, or mobile - what have you been doing and should we play it too?

TV & Tunes Tuesday (lemmy.world)

Thread for TV, film and music recommendations! What have you been feeding into your eyes and ears recently? What have we missed and should know about?

Monday is here. Back to work, or maybe not?

Looks like Lemmy.world had some external "issues" earlier, I logged on to post at 4.30 this morning and was greeted by "Site taken down by Reddit" (lol). Looks like the nasty hacker types have been evicted.

What are you looking forward to (or dreading) this week?

The Lobster was pretty out there.

Welcome to the weekend, part two.

It's pretty wet here so we're probably off to a museum later. Are you hiding from the rain or embracing it?

26

It's Saturday, the best day of the week for some of us. What's happening, dudes?

We've planned a barbeque, so obviously it's forecast to thunderstorm all lunchtime. Have a good one, all!

Friday Chat thread (lemmy.world)

Its Friday, and its looking like another hot one for most.

Come and have a chat, make us all jealous with your interesting weekend plans, or just let us know: what's your best elevenses snack

Currently (mainly due to lack of imagination), we're mainly copying the reddit format of daily threads. Is there anything that you'd like to see ongoing?

Best picture of a duck? Nighttime invasive thoughts thread? Let us know, or be empowered by creating one!

Complaints Thursday (lemmy.world)

Anything got your goat this week? Come in and share the load, you'll feel better.

Hi all,

I've set up my own Lemmy instance (using @ubergeek77's Easy Deploy script) on an Oracle Cloud free tier. I can sign in, and have added communities from other instances.

I'm seeing new posts from lemmy.ml, but not from lemmy.world. Does it take days to do an initial sync (my instance was created on Thursday)? Is Lemmy.world just too overloaded?

Cheers

Winning Wednesday (lemmy.world)

What's gone right for you this week? Let us know so we can bask in collective glory!

Off for burgers at lunchtime with #1 child, can't wait. Have to take a month's worth of garden waste to the tip this morning as they're striking and not collecting. Going to have to try to get a full wheelie bin in the car...

Welcome, glad you're here 🙂

As far as I understand it, US servers prefer the current system as they make more money from tips. Personally, if you prefer this system I think you don't have any right to complain or get upset if someone doesn't tip.

The mods discussed it, but felt it would be a shame to lose the (at the time) 1000 people already subscribed. As far as I can see, the point of federation is that it can be anywhere?

Relevant username?

[-] sideone@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

Yes, my thoughts exactly. Its probably due to (a) having 1.5 million users and (b) necessitating lots of individual mods, over-moderation is safer than under-moderation.

If the moan is entertaining, satirical, prompts engagement it should be left alone.

Broadly agree, providing its not too negative / repetitive. Hopefully the community will decide organically.

Time for a lovely new sunhat?

Looks like the blackout worked?

How does (or should) one respond to “Lemmy = tankies”

My first question would be: "What's a tankie?"

[-] sideone@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I think the crowd had decided beforehand, there was nothing he could say to change their minds. So he didn't bother.
