The most important thing for everyone to remember is that if you don't fully own the thing such that you can install and run it without asking permission, or if it isn't simply free and open source, then it can go away at any time.

It's one of the biggest problems of the whole 3d printing ecosystem that so many people are relying on software like fusion or tinkercad that could shut down, lose its free option, and see massive price increases on subscription software.

I wish I could wrap my head around freecad, but we're just not there yet and we may never be. I feel like it or something like it must be our future because until we have a full libre software chain we're living on borrowed time.

Honestly, knowing what I know about the last slide, it might as well be the middle slide.

tbf, you wouldn't do this because it's cheaper, you'd do it because it's more ecologically friendly and it helps make your 3d printer a bit more sustainable.

But at 20 bucks for a spool of thread, you won't be coming out ahead economically by recycling, I agree.

The line around the object I believe is meant to purge and fill the nozzle. Without it, there's a chance you start printing and a big chunk of your first layer doesn't have any filament.

Nothing false about it.

How many stars are there in the solar system?

You don't need technology you when you have indoctrination. At that point every single other human being becomes a potential point of privacy violation to the secret police.

Your roommates, your wife, your children, your friends, every one becomes a potential data leak, and unlike digital technology, humans can look for dirty laundry in places cameras and listening devices can't.

Unrelated, I love those stairs. They seem like a disaster waiting to happen but I love them.

Imagine going back and being like "Yeah, let's talk about exactly why these are the final stage of human evolution."

And then it turns out that being a salamander is actually awesome, and they can shoot laser beams from their eyeballs and fly in space without a warp drive or something.

I mean, if they're just salamanders at the height of their evolution, then Q must be stifling a laugh at all times.

There's lots of talk about "web 3" as regarding some crypto nonsense, but I think activitypub is the next step of the web, where different platforms communicate and you can have your home and you reach out to everywhere you want to be, and it's all integrated at your home.

Seems like there's a lot of instances struggling. Props to all the admins out there fighting to keep their stuff running (and don't forget to decentralize!)
