I almost downvoted you since I forgot those sentences are quotes from that guy. Gosh, what an ass.

It seems most people are on board with the idea that AI will change the world. While I agree it having some impact, I also think it is overinflated by marketing. Operating an AI takes huge computing power, which costs heaps of money and energy. So how are people suggesting that exponential improvement is feasible? I do not get it.

Further, aren't we supposed to reduce energy usage? Why are we trying to overspend what little is left? I hate how this is taking priority over the environment.

Creating this post mainly to rant, I thought OpenAI firing Sam Altman was a signal for a reality check. It seems they are wrapping it up and trying to rehire him though.. What a drama.

Exactly what I thought. Also there are pieces promoting fascism, I believe just blocking them is not ideal.

Oh, is there a point using PopOS even if I replace the WM?

I can be a data point, after initial enthusiasm I find myself spending less time on lemmy - which is not necessarily a bad thing. For me, it's just that real life is getting precedence. Also this does not mean I left lemmy, will return again when the rough edges are sorted out.

Reading comments, it's soo strange that I never borked my system once during nearly 7 years of linux usage. Playing games were frustrating, but it was improved a lot by now. My ubuntu never failed to boot, the only audio problem I had was with the mic. Even better, KDE Connect introduced new workflow to me. I wonder why my computer always boots well even when it gets borked during shutdown..

Nowadays, I use my own hand-rolled DE. It still refuses to break on me. Guess I am really lucky or something.

Just notational difference other than presence of mutation.. How is it harder to understand 3 + 6 + 9 + ... + 3n means compared to the for loop? Is repeated addition hard to grasp?

Yep, this is me with my own taskbar. I only thought about if I could, never stopping to ever consider whether I should.
