SSS is a Lisp machine adventure, where the hacking culture is celebrated. Let me help you achieve GNUrvana.

https://codeberg.org/jjba23/sss

You can follow the project on Codeberg, or on the fediverse at Mastodon: https://mastodon.social/@sss_project

This custom GNU + Linux setup enhances customization to infinity, encourages the hacking spirit, and offers a superior user experience thanks in part too to REPL (Read Eval Print Loop) and Lisps.

SSS strives to have all things configured via Lisp dialects when possible and convenient, staying accessible to all kinds of users, and allowing for magical things to happen 🪄.

Featuring Afetch instead of fastfetch because FASTFETCH CANNOT FIND MY CONFIG EVEN THOUGH IT'S RIGHT FUCKING THERE.

This is my programming and retro gaming rig. Running LMDE Faye and customized to look as much like the newer MacOS releases as possible (at first glance). The goal: a sleek, elegant system that performs better than elementaryOS.

Much work goes into making linux work completely on one of these boxes, I still haven't gotten my camera working (facetime-hd is a tricksy beast to install and have work) but otherwise I'm thrilled with the project.

Chassis: Macbook Air 6,2
Dist: LMDE 6 (faye)
Arch: x64
GPU: Haswell-ULT (haswell era intel integrated GPU)
RAM: Are you kidding? It's soldered in, no upgrades here. 4GB
Storage: Pictured: 250G SSD, not pictured: 512G sdcard

If anyone has any advice for using debian on this era of intel macbook, I'd appreciate it. Currently I can muster about 6 hours of battery life when just using a browser or word processor, thats fine but I'd like to see if I can stretch it to 8 without replacing my battery yet (battery health at 85%)

Hello, everyone!

I built a syntax highlighter for GRUB2's theme.txt file to make GRUB ricing in VS Code a little less cumbersome…

It's my first extension, so feedback is welcome.

Visual Studio Code Extension: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=Udon.grub-theme-syntax-highlighter

(It's also available on Open VSX, but their backend seems to be down atm)

Decided to actually put in effort and tried to dotfile with Hyprland and Waybar. It turned out pretty well!

If you think the wallpaper looks disconnected, that's because I actually have a diagonal monitor setup.

after hours of editing config files I finally got it to look 98% consistent of Catppuccin (2% inconsistent are GTK apps)

Just released v2.1.29, my Emacs config is now fully modular, and I control Spotify from inside it too with smudge - waybar, rofi, mako improvements - more everforest and light themes love - org mode with proportional fonts now - SSS-atisfying

Hey everyone! I'm looking for some inspiration for retro-themed or retro-inspired setups. Retro-futurism is cool too! Especially Window Manager setups. I appreciate anything y'all can give.

I recently switched from Code Saver to my own Iosevka configuration, and at first I found it to look great in Neovide but too narrow in my terminal, especially with FFmpeg output. I thought maybe it was due to font rendering differences, like spacing or character widths. But then I took a screenshot with the font sizes set the same in both apps, and overlaid a word in one app to another ... and the text is rendered the same.

FFmpeg output for reference:
