The vibes in the first half were so dreadfully good but the movie did veer toward disappointment as more plot needed to be revealed imo

Imo people have the worst reasons for disliking Evangelion. The shit rocks and all current anime sucks.

But what if one year of outdoor living and exploration provides more positive experience to the cat than a lifetime of indoor life? Obviously not a provable thought, but something I consider... a ship docked is safe etc etc

This is a beautiful sentiment I'm glad you expressed it, I totally agree with you. It is ultimately tragic.

Most propagandized people on the planet.

I think I'm entering a Joker-ified era and feeling some grotesque glee at seeing these people flail and whine as they are forced to confront the objective evil of the US colonial empire.

There was a thread asking about atomization of society and one symptom is shit like this, this comical evil can really only occur in an atomized society with such distance from others as human beings.

Anthropomorphizing little bugs and deciding not to kill them is valid (I do this) but deciding that those who do not are fascist is, imo, an unexamined, myopic and frankly cushy lib perspective

Edit: however if you torture bugs you are probably a pyschopath

This could be debated but... sci fi dystopia is meant to highlight the horror we are in right now, not necessarily some prediction of the future. The use of an exaggerated fictional future is meant to shake off the intense normalization of existing in modernity.
