I notice I'm not getting 171,000 upvotes on my posts....

Love when Democrats teach people lessons about how "you can't change the system from the inside" for us. He's young too, he'll be much wiser in a few years and maybe ready to actually make a play?

He is. He's not good for anyone on this site, but you can tell he draws on the same source material. If he wasn't a public persona he'd fit in just fine. Most noticeable thing is that he's more sympathetic to Ukraine than most here, but he understands that the conflict is deeper than "Russia just decided to move in in 2021 cause they're bad".

It's good to watch him and get familiar with him, so that you know what you're recommending. I had a friend text me just the other day "hey did you see Hasan's coverage of the ICE protests?"

And that's just because I sent them a link last summer during a conversation about something that was going on. Just like "yeah idk if you've heard of Hasan, but I thought his take in this clip was pretty decent. I don't always agree with everything he says, but it tends to be pretty sensible, even in those cases". Didn't really think it stuck, tbh

The thing is that Dems kinda aren't.

They keep asking and searching, and Hasan is exactly who they are looking for, but it's impossible for them to actually embrace or even entertain the possibility of anything progressive. They don't really even lie anymore.

They want someon "cool" to promote their empty neoliberal platform, but nobody cool wants anything to do with it (cause it sucks major ass).

Isn't that sort of what's happening to the Palestinians by Egypt?

Not saying that it's right for them all to flee and let Gaza fall to Israeli occupation, but I'm sure many people would go to Egypt if they were allowed, but instead they are currently starving and/or being attacked directly.

Just goes to show how deep the neoliberal brain worms still run in westerners, and it also revealed to me how many of Hasan’s own fanbase are still very much liberals.

He does an incredible job of exposing them to actual analysis while not pushing them away. We can pretty much send all the liberals we know this direction (mainly his YouTube channel imo) and he says most of the same takes that we have on here, but he's a lot more palatable I think. Plus he can do the work of explaining non-liberal analysis to them, so I don't have to. If it takes I can actually have a more interesting conversation with that person sometime in the future, and work out their remaining brainworms.

It is FUCKING HUGE in circles of people who are comfortable calling themselves a "liberal", if that makes sense. It's going to be a major influence on whatever the next generation of the Dem establishment looks like, kinda like the west wing.

The good news is that it doesn't stand up to scrutiny. From what I hear about it, itjust kinda ignores class politics, which is enough to be useless ofc. The dozens of other issues on top of that are all a bonus.

It's noticeable in the quality of your comments, comrade.

It would really elevate the site if we were all reading the monthly review. Not being subscribed to the hard copy Monthly Review Magazine is counter-revolutionary.

It would be sick to have a poster here be a contributor to it someday.... (unless??)

[–] spectre@hexbear.net 15 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

Monthly review, citations needed, and redsails being a shit ton of good "present-day theory".

Yeah I kinda dgaf if they are called Israel or even if they have a star of David on the flag if they deliver liberation to their citizens (they won't, but if they did)

Ah right an yeah like everything else I'm sure their robotics and other tech trickles over to defense uses to some extent or another, but I think it's a lot less direct than other space industry sectors like rocketry or whatever is implied by the name (as you saw).

I don't mind dinking on the guy but I want a clean dunk!

"This is just as bad as those places we intentionally destabilized!!!"

Comment section full of people saying things like "At least someone has the backbone to stand up to Trump!!"

This is what taking a stand looks like to you? bruh

Against the Storm

I don't remember seeing this one mentioned.

It's a survival city builder like frostpunk with industry and resource management. You have three different species of woodland creatures, with their own unique needs a and abilities. It is rogue-lite as well.

Rums excellent on the steam deck and would highly recommend.

Trackmania

Classic game, runs well on the deck, fun couch-multiplayer too, although I wish they would fine tune a few things.
