I mean, this was their idea last year...

Forever "Subscription Mouse"

I feel like "AI Mouse" is right up their alley.

It doesn't negate the possibility that they were raised to think that way. Of course, it is always possible that they are just a Heartless Snaggletooth Cunt. I just don't think it's fair to assume that of all of them, or that all of them can't be taught at least a little compassion.

How about something like

"It sucks that your are struggling and were conned by those in power. We're struggling too. How about we work together now and fix things for everyone? Here's how I think we could do that..."

[–] theparadox@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago

Here's the thing... the people in power right now are trying to make new generations of Nazi fucks out of young people. Continue this insanity.

Gutting education and every fucking system we've tried to put in place to help people and show that things can be better. They're being taught that it isn't the fault of the rich man who won't let you take a bathroom break! He's just trying to scrape by while being robbed by the tax man! If only they'd give him a break then he could afford to pay you better. Really, it's the fault of your fellow worker because he's an immigrant, or your neighbor because he's disabled, or your kid's friend because he isn't not masculine enough, or your wife's fault for selfishly working instead of staying home and raising your boy right...

Sure, they helped with their votes but it's the people in power who are actually doing it. Those same same rich fucks that are also paying for propaganda and astroturfing and silencing the criticism.

I agree the actual post is a bit too on the nose, but I'm honestly a bit more concerned with the comments.

I think most of them are honestly just ignorant. If you literally get your news from conservative media you'd have no idea. Hell, at this point, most traditional media is pretty bad.

Sure they might be a racist, bigot, misogynist, or all three but chances are it's what they've been taught. Shit is seriously different in poor and/or rural areas.

As tempting as it is and as upset as I am with everyone who voted for Fascism (purposely or due to ignorance), these people need to be compassionately educated rather than jeered at and told "That's what you get you fucking idiot."

This is a moment where they might realize the value of the services that the left believes they deserve as a fellow human being. Maybe they'll finally figure out that the propaganda they've been fed isn't a reliable source of truth.

I find it really annoying how Americans are so ignorant of history that they literally cannot make any historical comparisons outside of Nazi Germany.

To be fair, all we should need to say is "It's kind of fucked up to do " and people should agree and it should stop. Instead, so much of the media and so many propagandized conservatives are just denying it all and making up excuses. Historically, Nazi's have been universally seen as unequivocally evil so it's the only comparison that we think might get through.

Now though... Musk can fucking salute Hitler twice in a row at the presidential inauguration and calling it out is contentious. We're frankly out of ideas.

They'd just use it as an excuse to cut more programs.

Hell, according to the CBO, the current bill is guaranteed to cause an imbalance in the budget, which thanks to existing pay go rules means across the board cuts to everything, including Medicare.

This way they didn't purposely or directly fuck over Medicare. It was just an oopsie.

Well, we'd better punish labor be raising interest rates and unemployment. Then they'll finally be willing to work.

I'm sure some minority of the population is misogynistic and wouldn't vote for a woman. I just don't think it's enough misogynists to ruin their chances.

Both suffered from being establishment candidates in an anti-establishment era.

Yes, Biden definitely suffered from this.

Both were only really willing to push to milquetoast progressive policies.

In the primaries, absolutely. However, once Biden won, he took on projects from the progressive wing, likely in exchange for full throated endorsement/support. Green new deal type stuff. Not amazing, but not nothing. A lot of the more progressive goals were wrecked by Democrats' hopeless naivety, or feigned ignorance, when attempts were made to reach across the aisle and get some consensus from Republicans... who had made it crystal fucking clear that their only goal was obstruction and sabotage. Then other Democrats straight up ruined it themselves. Anyway...

Both followed disappointing democratic presidents that promised a lot and delivered little, often due to their own party sabotaging attempts at major progressive reform.

Biden's biggest advantage was that he followed Trump. I'm fucking appalled that people had already forgotten the first time. Makes me wonder if it wasn't rigged by Republicans more thoroughly than had become obvious.
