Never. Or....not never, but not until it's really worth it. Noem absorbs flak for Trump, Bovino absorbed it for Noem. Homan is just Senior Manager playing Middle Manager until they get some new idiot in there to do the job and absorb flak for both of them.

Homan knows enough to stay in DC and out of the way of televised action. He's been an appointee for 22 years. He's not stupid, he's not a MAGA appointee chud, and he's not naive. He knows the politics of his job and knows that as an Obama-era appointee, even if he looks like he slipped up, he's out with that mark on his record to blame. He might be loyal, but he can never live down that original sin and so he goes on TV to slur his way through a Meet the Press interview and defend Trump to extend his worth one more week at a time.

You can only see it this way if you're on the receiving end of a left-oriented headline. Your perspective is fueled by clickbait. Trump's perspective is still mafia mentality.

Trump's already publicly defended her on Fox News, and I can't tell if a throwaway quote on Axios or Trump standing in a Golden Corral or whatever the fuck it is, giving an interview about how she's "done it all" happened first - it's a matter of hours. Point is, she is loyal AF and she is his last line of defense on everything DHS does. He needs her now more than ever and she's survived much worse several times over already. She's the shield he uses for everything - and he's positioning himself that way for a long-term benefit to him. Bovnio was always disposable because he's not in the money club. Noem is, and she's young enough to have a career after all this if our timeline gets worse. Even if she gets impeached.

Trump can't play Noem out until it's worth it to him, and it's no where near that yet. Bovino was the cost already, and no one liked him on the right anyway. Plus he flew too close to the sun, and THAT was the sin to a narcissist, to think he could play at the same level. His job was as a shield for Noem, full stop. Homan is next up until he installs the next public-facing nazi cosplayer and goes to Maine to also be the fodder for the next round. Trump hates LEOs and the military until he needs them, and so they're the disposable ones to him.

NSPM-7 skips this step. We're at the bottom rung here. If you are shot by ICE, you are domestic terrorist by virtue of the fact that you were somewhere they could shoot you.

One ICE officer can be heard responding by threatening to “grab” the staffer

JFC - didn't these goons ever watch Lethal Weapon 2? Consulate staff would literally have diplomatic immunity - AND a diplomatic visa. They're not immigrants, they're diplomats.

Ecuador should send their military into the US embassy in Quito and see how it goes for everyone involved and watch how quickly the whining and importance of international law comes back.

Y'all really don't understand that this headline is tailored for you.

In Noem's mind, this says "Kristi Noem Credits Her Actions to Trump and Stephen Miller."

She's running to the MAGA safehouse. This isn't "I was following orders." This is "I was given orders, and look at how perfectly I followed them!"

This is a spurious correlation if I've ever seen one.

Perceiving the government as loudly and publicly placing anything ahead of regular people and their jobs is what erodes democracy. The feeling that someone is not represented to elected representatives. Most elections over the last 30 years have been about this as a core economic element. Globalzied manufacturing was the Big Bad for decades before AI came along.

Considering I signed up for Piefed and Lemmy with a tutamail account, I think maybe you're not reading that correctly.

There's a 24 or 72 hour cooldown period where you can't just go an immediately sign up for things, but that's about all.

Oh, there's more than just Greece that needs them. But I expect that in terms of climate, I'd rather go from Mexico to an island in the Ionian than Mexico to Helsinki.

I had awesome Mexican food in Ghana. Turns out it was some actual guy from Mexico that was living there and opened a restaurant. It helps that Mexico and all of West Africa have the same spice tolerance, but man, it was great. Cheese, as it turned out, was his logistical block, everything else was available or could get shipped in.

I got nachos once in a "Mexican" restaurant in Greece.

It was basically this, but instead of the hamburger, it was 4 kidney beans. Literally 4. The cheese solidified back into a sheet that could be lifted off the chips entirely. My partner and I laughed so hard that people were giving us weird looks.

So hey, maybe he's got a job now as a cook in Greece!

Wait....wouldn't midwest food crimes be things like hot sauce and flavor that isn't cheese or cheese food product?
