My family has all switched to Signal, including family overseas in Europe (non-English speaking, varying age groups). It has all the features you mentioned, as well as gif responses my aunt and parents are into. Personally I find the look and feel of it to be preferable to whatsapp as well. It's not as visually cluttered imo and has none of the spam/scams I had been getting on whatsapp.

I also use signal now as my primary messenger over sms or anything else. I love being able to edit responses and emoji react even tho I don't have an iphone anymore. Plus all the added security of encryption of course.

Anecdotal, but I ALSO got shingles following my first (and only, afaik) case of COVID (I am well under 50 years old). It was in the top-5 most painful experiences, maybe tied for first place with kidney infection.

Most people close to me (family, partner, friends) had at least one lingering effect as well after having it, including eczema, loss of taste/smell, neuropathy, two unrelated uncles got cancer, high blood pressure, heart attack, and other cases of shingles.

The DNC got Platner drunk, forcibly tattooed a totenkopf on his chest, and somehow kept him from having it removed or covered for over a decade? Damn that's crazy. Even for them!

Apologies if I was unclear, I do intend to get a new number but since I've had the same one for so long I don't want to miss any important calls or messages. So I'm looking for a way to port my current number so that I can still occasionally check voicemail or texts.

What can I port my current phone number to that's not Google Voice and that I don't have to pay monthly/a ton of money for? I am willing to pay Some Amount to be free from the overwhelming spam caused largely by having the same number for 20 years.

I have been searching online but everything seems geared towards companies or whatever/is very expensive.

Please let me know if you have any recommendations or know a good way to search for this!

Thank you 🕵‍♂️

Thank you! These are perfect. Love Harry Harrison.

Hello all, I'm new to this community!

I just finished Murray Leinster's Pariah Planet. I love how it started out, but some of his writing ticks bothered me too much (he uses "presently" nearly every other page) otherwise I would probably continue with his Med Series. Idk maybe I will anyway...

Does anyone have any recommendations for me? Not looking for just pandemic stories, (and please no zombies) -- I enjoy the detective undertones of public health scientists figuring shit out, and some of the political conflicts that arise.

One thing about Pariah Planet that I've been really drawn to are stories of scientists in solitude. I really liked the movie io and the podcast series Girl in Space.

I'm also in the middle of Apollyon but waiting for more of the next season to come out so I can binge!

Books available as audiobooks, podcast audiodramas, and movies would all be ideal but lmk whatever you think fits in my very specific subgenre interest

Thank you !!

This is false. The vaccines that are currently being administered in the US are the 2025/26 formula.
