im running ubuntu on a vps. I can get a shell running. I don't see where in that thread it mentions how to clear the tables?

I set up Lemmy using the Ansible setup so it is in docker

I have backups automatically running every week.

My Lemmy instance has reached 100% storage so I can no longer use it. Is there a safe way I can clear cache or make some more space available without upgrading the disk space? I set up the instance with the ansible script many months ago and migrating to object storage seems to be a decent amount of work I don't have to commit to currently.

I tried searching on the admin wiki (https://wiki.lemmyadmin.site) but I couldn't find anything

I can't switch to Object Storage just yet because I'm worried that since I have 0 space left there will be issues when trying to migrate so I need to make some space available and then make the switch to Object Storage

Ah ok thanks for the info! Do you know if vultrs firewall would make installing fail2ban redundant?

Hi, I'm setting up a public wiki using mediawiki and I'd like some help ensuring the server and mediawiki is safely setup before I start sharing it publicly. I installed it on Vultr using the mediawiki app from the Vultr Marketplace. Are there any things I should ensure before publicly sharing the link?

Some things I've done so far:

  • I disabled password login to the server so its only possible to login via ssh

  • I made it so I have to approve of any edits to the wiki

  • I still haven't enabled uploads of files because I want to ensure I only allow jpeg\png uploads.

I'm relatively new to running servers so any tips are highly appreciated.

The DRM removal tool to remove DRM from ebooks was taken down from github and will most likely be taken down from gitlab soon as well. The more archives we have the better so im sharing the gitlab in hopes some Datahoarder types will archive it and keep it shared via torrents etc https://gitlab.com/bipinkrish/DeGourou

Heres an article about why it was taken down https://torrentfreak.com/internet-archive-targets-book-drm-removal-tool-with-dmca-takedown-230714/

Yeah! Thats how the reddit extension works across different subreddits that have used the links.

You could also list the comments by upvotes across instances. With the instance name by the username. So you can see all comments from all instances and communities

It doesnt need to support the google api.

Gab (the nazi fediverse platform) had an extension like this a couple years ago https://github.com/gab-ai-inc/gab-dissenter-extension/

The plugin could work across any website so YouTube and PeerTube would both be supported

The worst part of youtube is the terrible comments so i use this extension to see reddit comments under youtube videos. It would be great to have a similar extension for Lemmy comments to appear on youtube videos.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/reddit-comments-for-youtube/

the extension would be even more interesting if it could work on any link on the web, allowing you to fetch lemmy threads with that url

How can we do this?

Him agreeing with communist ideas etc isn’t a big deal i think its pretty clear capitalism is a fucking mess. There’s a global pandemic making the indoor air dangerous. toxic wildfire smoke making the outside air dangerous. War, billionaires owning and destroying the largest sections of the internet. We’re still begging for healthcare and more and more jobs are being replaced by ai/robots. All the while the rich oligarchs make endless billions
