Not trying to start a war here, just curious why the new instance was created. Different purpose, different goals, or just 'cause?

From Daniel:

  • Simpler Onboarding
  • Starter Kits
  • Stories

These are the major updates coming to the next Pixelfed app build along with several bug fixes!

With some hacking at the database and APIs, I've put together a python script that allows backfilling of posts. I've now pulled in the most recent 50 posts of anyone that one of our users is following.

You may now bask in cats. https://pixelfed.ca/i/web/profile/797991200484212751

Hopefully that'll help it feel a little less empty!

I'm trying to view a post from a user on another instance and it shows "no preview available." I pasted the following URL into the search box on Pixelfed.ca.

The login interface only allows login with mastodon servers.

My only account is this lemmy.ca account.

Will it be possible to add login options for lemmy and other activity pub server software (e.g. friendica, peertube, etc)?

I'm liking Pixelix, it's free on Fdroid. It's better than the official app, but missing some features still

I'm following #Vancouver hash tags and I don't see anything showing up on my Home feed; there's been new posts since following the hashtag though. Those new posts with the hashtag should be showing up on my Home feed right? I know they do on pixelfed.social.

I see a post on my pixelfed.social home feed for an account @pixelfed.ca that has #Vancouver in the post.. but on my pixelfed.ca home feed, I'm not seeing that post. I can search for it though? Is there some kind of home feed setting I'm missing?

Does anyone else have a similar experience with following hash tags that aren’t showing on the home feed?

Will the import feature be enabled at some point? I want to migrate my photos over, would be good to use the import function for that πŸ™

Can see accounts on pixelfed.social but I can't see any pics from them.

Sometimes, when uploading to some sites, if I upload images with resolution and size within the correct parameters, the server doesn't re-compress the images. If the images do get compressed, then they come out looking degraded.

I don't know if those settings are per-server.

Does anyone know if there is a preferred resolution, file type and file size for photos and videos on pixelfed in general or pixelfed.ca?
