Why would we go without?

What is the answer to this question?
Well in an ideal world we'd outlaw private gun ownership, making all guns collectively owned and regulated by the communal armory. If someone needs a gun they need to explain why to the elected quartermaster, have all the necessary permits and paperwork and training, and be subject to inspection. Literally a "well regulated militia"
That's not practical at the moment, though, so just disarming this fucked up country is probably the only option. A gun buyback program with a very generous payout, combined with a much more strict regulatory system.
But that's not going to happen. We'll just have mass shootings every day forever. πΊπΈ
