I use Kobo ones, I had a Touch years ago and currently use a Clara HD, the software isn't too fast (though maybe that's different on newer models) but has always been pretty reliable for me, even on the Touch despite its age
Something I like is that it's integrated with Pocket (the Mozilla-owned service) and can automatically sync articles you add to your list to the e-reader
If you find your kobo ereader sloe you can install koreader on it. Koreader is much more snappy than the stock interface.
