"the artifacts wound up being stored at Mar-a-Lago, and it remains unclear whether the former president is aware of this."

Dude lost track of all the shit he plundered.

I just don't see how those would have ended up at Mar-a-Lago without direction from at least someone in the family, if not Trump himself. Like... Why? How? Who would care enough, besides a Trump?

Everyone under him is a crook, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a ton of theft that he didn’t directly control.

[-] venorathebarbarian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Oh for sure! That theft probably didn't end up at Mar-a-Lago, though. To end up in his home... I feel like he or someone close to him has to have been involved.

"They're mine. They were given to me personally by someone really, really great, so they're mine, and I get to keep them." - Trump probably

Totally tracks. He probably does think they were given to him personally.

He also thinks that the classified documents were his personal property since someone handed him a copy when he was President.

I guess we're just lucky that he's not trying to claim the White House as his because Obama turned the keys over to him in 2017.
