Hello, I'm from the beehaw server and just happened to see your messages. I'm just interested in learning more about this whole federated thing and exploring all these interesting little communities. ❤️

Thanks! These little instances kind of remind me of the old 90s Internet. Tiny communities doing their thing but still public. I love that I'm on beehaw and here at the same time and others from other places can also chime in.

Yeah it is cool; they remind me a bit of old-school message boards too, but, like, with a joined backend so you don't have to participate in just one.

Reddit did wind up crushing all of those... but I think the Fediverse has some advantages relatively. Except in Google search results, where all the good things are still, well, reddit.

Hopefully some lessons have been learned about where to put good content in the future.
