-> 2 pass dome shave with the new monster brush. A very close one, looking quite shiny up top atm.
So today was finally a good opportunity for my new brush giant: it had a bit of starting issues, but I blame this fully on myself. I actually like to load directly from the tub and with a rather dry brush, but here I have to consider the overall large amount of extra fibers that need to get in contact with soap & water. After a short intervention in the form of more water on the brush + loading more soap I actually got a pretty nice result. It feels soft, splays nicely, very comfortable. Of course the NO lather was really solid too.
So, Lonestar was very fitting for me for a few different reasons: first off, the otter wears a big bushy moustache and today while trimming I actually went back to a Doc Holliday (beard)stache. It's actually the style that allows me the most flexibility in terms of shaving my face or not, trimming it nicely and caring for it the easiest. I also like how it gives me a gunslinger look with the short stubble around it. So, Doc Holliday and gunslingers - very fitting with the Western theme of the soap. Lastly, while it's mostly prairie grass and leather, Lonestar also faintly reminds me of high quality marzipan, a staple ingredient in german Christmas sweets. All in all a solid choice and a great way to end this year's Xmas season.
Today was a chilled day off, visited my parents in the afternoon and we had a great meal together in the evening. Now I'll need to go to bed after a final vape of the day, so I will be ready for my early shift tomorrow. Final shift of 2024 and I am so ready for some rest, folks. Hope all of you & your families had a nice Xmas!
I've been considering Lonestar as my first NO soap, the notes sound right up my alley.
I'm hoping to find a deal on a used set at some point.
Lonestar is great. I had a solid cologne sample of it once and the soap has been on my list ever since.
I actually got lucky and won it together with two other barely used soaps in a PIF, back when I was still a member of Reddit. Nowadays NO soaps are thankfully easily available in the EU ๐
I personally think Lonestar is interesting - a few months ago, it was genuinely just marzipan to me with a faint touch of grass and leather, but yesterday that shifted around 180ยฐ and now the leather and grass are most prominent. Could also be my nose becoming more sophisticated, but I highly doubt that ๐
