Yup and as soon as nobody is watching, that mask will be worn on the chin or not worn at all.

The mindbending negotiotations I've seen these people do amongst themselves to get out of wearing a mask just makes this clearer. In my work there have been numerous occasions when I've been the only one who has masks and offers them to people. They sometimes take one, but they take it off as soon as they find even the weakest justification for doing so. They always look so incredibly anxious when it comes up.

And covid itself, I listen to marginalized people trying to voice issues that sound a lot like longcovid weekly, I get to witness doctors, experts ignore them. Especially if they use the word covid. Just last week in a situation like this, an expert streched so far as to openly considered the fatigue and brain fog the person had to be side effects from medication, medication the person in question had been on far longer than covid has been around, without the terrible fatigue.

Watching this "show" and trying to advocate for these folks to be heard and I just can't really even explain anymore what it is I feel when these sorts of optics happen.
